TIMES, THEY ARE A-CHANGIN'...

Finally,
 we have some
 autumn color in the garden.
It may look a little wind blown
or a little watered down,
but it remains
 true autumn colors.

We had a little rain and
as I am writing this (Friday, November 6,
 one day before my birthday)
the light coming into the Cottage is dark,
 but somewhat comforting.
 So lamps are lit and
 candles glow,
making what usually would be
a spot of winter depression,
a bright and cheerful place to be.
 Believe me,
this feeling won't last
 throughout the whole of winter,
but in the beginning
 it is pure perfection.

Now today,
while fall is still hanging on,
perfection has happened
in another aspect of my life.
The American people
have done the right thing and
elected a new president.
It felt like touch and go for awhile,
but our better angels have prevailed and
I bet there are not too many of us
that can say that
on the day of our birthday,
we got a new pair of boots,
 new knickers and
 a new President.
I am a very lucky lady.

You must all know by now
that I find Donald Trump to be
a despicable and repulsive individual.

 I had a
 whole other descriptive
 post planned
for this occasion,
but have decided
that we have all been
so divided over the last four years and
now that the voices of
the American people have been heard,
and we have
the leadership that has been lacking,
I will not be the one
 beating a dead horse.
 It is time for
uniting our country.

Together,
we can make America ours again...

...so,
 I am looking forward
 to a new future,
leaving all bad behind and
seeing the good that is on the way.
 Let's face it,
even though none of us is perfect,
and the next four years
may not always be perfect either,
  I can guarantee you,
 come January 2021,
we will have compassion and decency
 back in the White House.

 I heard a comment from
the mayor of Paris, France:
Welcome back, America!
with the sound of
 church bells ringing
 in the background.
That says it all and
now, hopefully, I can breathe easier
 for the continued prosperity
for my kids and grandson.
 That was mainly
 what scared
the hell out of me.

The American people
 did elect Joe Biden,
but Donald Trump, himself,
made it possible.

There is a lot of
hard work to still be done
 but now
there is hope.

From

November 3, 2020 to January 20, 2021,

 let us all heed

the words of

 Bob Dylan:

"Come senators, congressmen,
Please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway
Don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
The times they are a-changin'".

Bob Dylan and The Boys In The Band
Verse Three
Times They Are A-Changin"
1963

I am building a frame work
just in time for Christmas.

  My happy place.

 Some things around here
aren't changing though,
so I will still remind you to...

Stay Smart
Stay Well
And
Wear the mask

Now is the time
to get this virus under control
so we can all continue on
 to our
 happy places.

...Judy...

  1. Judy, I am ready for change. I am so happy about the news of a vaccine so very near to being produced to save our country's people. Those that don't like the out come of this election, with have to just wait till the next election ,like we all do from time to time. Right? I love the pictures of your fall colors. It's been awesome here. But tonight the normal fall temps will return to our area. Stay safe, my friend. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Thanks so much, Susie. Fall is so pretty here today. But, it is really getting cold. Our country was really hurt by the election of four years ago. Nobody knows how the next four years will go, but one thing we do know is that it will be much more civil. He only has himself to blame, as he got so many votes that the outcome could have gone either way but good triumphed over evil and now we have to get on with life as it is meant to be. Such good news about the vaccine. I had this post written before we learned of it. If we just listen to the docs and the scientists, I think things may be turning around. It will be awhile yet, but really good news..Stay well, my friend..xxoJudy

  2. I was looking forward to your good cheer post, thank god he is on his way out and decency and decorum can return. The sense of relief is overwhelming, how much nonstop turbulence and division bellowed daily can one country withstand. The humiliation he forced our country to endure with his lies, corruption, distortion, egocentric, ignorant, hateful rhetoric supporting racism has no business anywhere, much less in the highest office of our country, we all deserve so much better.

Your trees are beautiful, fall finally rushed in the door with these freezing temps! we still have missed the rain clouds, they scoot around my house, but I can't wait until i lasso a downpour and let my garden relish in those cool drenching waters they are craving. At least the air is finally clean again, I can see from the coastal range, to the buttes and the snow capped Sierras, it has been I bet six months with all our fires tainting the air. Fall has such gorgeous lighting, the rain cleasened our palettes and it all feels fresh and new, yes, the times they are a changing!

    1. Thank you so much. Yes, we can all breathe sighs of relief. Sounds like we are still in for some jarring times, which is so unsettling but so Trump! I think he is trying to make money off of the lies about the election, so he can feather what nest he will have left once the time is over. I am trying to go with President Joe and be calm and collected but it isn't easy!..Stay well and thanks again for your kind words..xxoJudy

  3. Well, I think that you know that I share your exhilaration on the outcome of the election. At last the national nightmare is over...but it looks like we are going to have a bumpy ride until the inauguration. Happy belated Birthday.

  4. Let's hope now that we have a new president coming in he will be able to unite us and bring harmony and peace. Covid is still very real but hoping and praying a vaccine will be available soon. As we get closer to the end of 2020 lets hope when we usher in the new year it will be the beginning of better days. Have a great week. xoxo Kris

  5. I love this post, Judy. I love the hope of a new administration and what promise it can bring. It won't happen overnight and people have to be willing to change and accept but I think if anyone can do it, he can. Meanwhile, I send you now-belated Happy Birthday wishes and continuing wishes for a wonderful "New Year!" May it be beautiful in every way!

    1. Thanks so much, Jeanie. I cannot add any words to what you just said. There should be so much hope now and for those that don't think that can be, I just want to say to them please give it a chance. This man is such a good person and has nothing but joy in his heart for each and every one of us. I really believe in him, and if things can't turn around then there just might not be any hope of our country at all. We have to all believe that this change will turn out well and we all have to do our part to make it so..Stay well..xxoJudy

  6. Dear Judy---all our leaves blew into the next county (probably in MIchigan) this week with the front, that also ended our beautiful weather. I sometimes think we were separated at birth...as the Dylans' lyrics have been in my head also. We had such hope for our country as 'boomer' young people...vowing never to have another useless war--(we've had what two or more) and that if WE elected officials they would care for everyone, that we would have equal rights for ALL...some things have improved and others have taken HUGE steps backward. I'm not 20 anymore and my youthful optimism is definitely tarnished, but here is to 'perhaps sanity' after the final storm! HUGS, Sandi

    1. Thanks so much, Sandi. You know, I had so many things in my mind to say after the election, but I just couldn't do it at the time, things turned out like I planned and, I thought, it was over and done with, so why stir up more resentment. Then I read from some bloggers and on FB and it just hurts my soul! How in the world with four years of knowing exactly what that man is and all the people that are dying from the virus and nothing is being done about it, how in the world can the loyalties stay in place? I would like to give respect to all people no matter what their views, but for the life of me, I can't think of one word that I can say publicly, about the people who are following this idiot! Can't they tell that he is not about anything that has to do with them. He is laughing behind their backs and at this point is only afraid that his ass will end up in jail. That is what it is all about. I am trying to laugh it all off because we are going in such a better direction but it isn't easy..Stay well and I hope the weather will be better for you..xxoJudy

  7. Hi Judy - well most of our color and leaves have all ended for yet another autumn. Last week we had the most perfect weather! It is slowly getting cooler now. I love all your pictures! And I haven't thought of that Dylan song's lyrics in years. I am going now to YouTube to listen to it again.

Thank you for your visit and sweet comments. Please stay safe and well.

    1. Thanks so much, Michele and I think I have been spelling your name wrong, so my apologies. Our color now is mostly on the ground and we had a little overnight rain so it is a mess. The poor dogs are just covered with wet soggy leaves when they go out. Last night was so cold I thought sure it would snow.. Stay well and thanks again..xxoJudy

  8. Judy,
I totally agree with every single aspect of this post!! Living in Pa., I welcome a Pennsylvania boy who spent his early formative years only 20 minutes "up the road" from us!! I have despised the leader of the current administration since he first came on the scene about 35 years ago.....He made me sick to my stomach then and continues to do so now....BUT I fear this is not going to be a peaceful transition because he is going to act like he has always acted when he does not get his way and not leave the White House peacefully......Being a former Republican, now Independent, that party needs to get over him and find some new leadership, younger leadership, to be able to move on because yes, you are so right...Times...They are a Changin...
Stay safe, healthy and happy, my friend! thanks for visiting!!
    Hugs,
    Deb

    1. Thanks so much, Deb. I feel exactly the same way. Many years ago, I knew what a horrible person he was and is and now it should even be more apparent. I was aghast when he was elected in the first place, but thought people were just wanting change and thought why not! but now, after suffering through 4 years with his incompetence, I am appalled at the ones who still follow him. I am afraid that when he does get hauled off, his lasting effect on such gullible people will come to no good. I have people in my own family who believe he walks on water. I was an independent when I first registered to vote many years ago but after what the Republican congress did to President Obama and now with their undying idiots that back him up, I am a Democrat all the way! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving my friend and stay well..xxoJudy
