I love scented candles.
There is nothing prettier than a candle flame that gives off a beautiful scent.
I usually have at least one candle lit in the Cottage most times
and so far none of the scents are offensive to me.
I thought this might be a solution to the problem that I have with my beautiful lilacs.
Because I love the scent of lilacs but can't be around them for any length of time,
I am hoping that a lilac scented candle might be the answer.
This candle, above, is from the Milk House Candle Co line carried at Marmalade Mercantile.
I love their farmhouse styled containers
and all the scents I have tried have been really beautiful.
I have had this candle burning all day and so far it does not bother me.
It smells like the real thing, only in a more light and soft way.
We took Kai to the vets today for a check up of his glucose levels.
It was a little on the low side
so his insulin was reduced from 4 to 3.
and we will take him back in two weeks to check again.
I am taking some chances and painting pictures without tracing them first.
This sunflower was all drawn freehand and I don't think it came out too badly.
I am still working on the amount of water to mix with the paint
so I am not happy with that part of it yet.
There is always room for improvement but I do think it is getting easier.
But,
a Grandma Moses I will never be!
Have a wonderful week and hope you all enjoyed a Happy Easter.
It is very sad when things get so boring
that this is all I can think of to write or photograph.
Hopefully more interesting happenings ahead.

That's a beautiful sunflower and tomato soup is always good for the soul.
ReplyDeleteWe woke up to everything covered in snow this morning.
Happy Spring.
Thanks so much, Thelma. You are right! Happy Spring..We had rain last night and are expecting more, which is very good for us..xxoJudy
DeleteNothing boring at all about your post. I enjoy as always reading them. I love Lilacs so much, but like you, the scent can be so over powering in the house closed in. If the windows could be open to the outside, maybe. Good you could find a candle that is not sickening sweet like one I purchased recently. I can only have it lit for a little while, way too strong. Love that picture of Kai, chipper looking little thing.
ReplyDeleteYou are putting out some fine drawings and paintings. I want to do some drawing like you are doing but I just can't stay interested for long lately. Too much else on my mind I guess. Happy Easter to you.
Thanks so much, Betsy. I have found this candle company's scents are not too strong. Another one I have is Balsam and Cedar. I got it on sale right after Christmas. Wish I had gotten it before because it really smells like Christmas. It seems like the only things I can concentrate on IS painting and TV. Doing anything else is just too much. I think that is why everything seems boring to me. I don't even enjoy cleaning the house or decorating that much for some reason. Maybe when the weather gets better..Happy Tuesday and stay well..xxoJudy
DeleteI bet that candle smell is wonderful. Our lilacs here in Madras, when they DO bloom, don't have much fragrance. Very weird. So a lilac candle would be awesome to have in the house. I may check out that company... I like a very soft subtle smell of a candle, not real strong. Your sunflower is very pretty.... I admire that you can paint free-handed! This time of year does seem a little boring, or closed in or something. I'm feeling the same way. Can't get interested in any projects around the house or outside. I did some yardwork when we had some warm sunny days, but right now those are gone for awhile! It sleeted today for awhile.. and then a little rain.. not near enough. I just hole up in my craft room and do my papercrafts! That keeps me busy and in another world of delight! xoxo Marilyn
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Marilyn. Holeing up in the craftroom sounds pretty good to me. We had a big rain storm last night and is continuing on into today. Not much else going on, just counting the days until it is nice again..Happy Thursday..xxoJudy
DeleteYum on the soup. I love a good tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich. I bet the candle will be so sweet smelling. I just bought a candle called French Lilac and it smells pretty nice. I love the smell of lilac. Fabreeze even came out with a spray of sweet lilac that smells pretty good. Little Kai is so darn cute. xoxo Kris
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Kris. I am enjoying the candle and so far it isn't bothering me. It is raining pretty good today. We really need it but I don't like the dark weather that goes with it..Happy Thursday..xxoJudy
DeleteYou get better and better with every single painting! I hope Kai's meds get well resolved. I remember scented candles back before almost scented anything sent me into coughing grief. Only a few fragrances work. But they're so lovely. Truly, your sunflower is lovely. I'm enjoying seeing you grow!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Jeanie. I thought I was getting better and I am obsessed with sunflowers evidently. I painted another and it wasn't too good so I will keep trying, but I am enjoying the drawing part so far. I am finding that there are too many scents that don't bother me. Nothing bad but just a little headache and itchy eyes. I appreciate your constant support..Happy Thursday..xxoJudy
DeleteJudy, your art is lovely. So sorry about Kai's health, I hope things work out for your fur baby.Tomato soups sounds great. I was just looking up recipes today because I have been sick with a cold, no covid. Candles are so nice, with so many fragrances to choose from. Happy Wednesday Judy. xoxo
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Linda. I hope you are feeling better. One of my girlfriends has a bad case of stomach flu. I said I hope it wasn't Covid but she said no so I guess there are other things going around too..Happy Thursday..xxoJudy
DeleteYour sunflower is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that I've heard of that candle company before, but it's nice to know that the scent is lovely and not bothering you at all.
I'll bet Kai feels better, once his meds are straightened out. Keep us posted.
Enjoy this beautiful season.

Thanks so much, Kerin. Hope you had a wonderful Easter. Kai seemed to be feeling good as far as the diabetes goes and I didn't know that it was not the right dosage. His glucose went a little to the low side so vet took away some of insulin he had been getting. I am kind of confused because I didn't think the dosage would go down, just thought they would have to give him more. We check him again in 2 weeks so hopefully it is good now..Happy Thursday..xxoJudy
DeleteHm....loved even thinking about lilacs. We had snow Monday---and dreary again for two more days. It's fun to imagine the scent of lilacs(of anything with flowers) we are so far behind, I have a few daffys blooming but that's it. And, we have a pot of lentil/ham soup on the counter perking away. I'd really have real Spring though! Sandi
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Sandi. I agree with you. I can't wait for the sun to shine again. Even though we really need the rain, it is the dark and dreary days that come with it that I don't like..Happy Thursday..xxoJudy
DeleteI'm so impressed with your painting, Judy! I think you could give Grandma Moses a run for her money. Frankly, I like your style better!! You go!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Kim. I giving it a huge try..Happy Weekend..xxoJudy
DeleteYour picture is very pretty! We have been selling our candles for 14 years in our store. They are soy, burn clean and the scent is all through to the end. Better than Yankee candle in my opinion. We love burning candles too! Janice
ReplyDeleteJudy,
ReplyDeleteYou continue to amaze me with your artistic talents!!! Thanks so much for sharing!!! Stay safe, healthy and happy!!
