Today we had the template made up for the counter tops. Not a very exciting happening by blogging standards, but it is part of the process of the kitchen remodel and when I make a promise, I deliver.
He doesn't appear to be doing much but it took him one hour and thirty minutes to do it. I hope his measurements are correct because, as some of you will surely know, an old house ain't exactly square! So he says he has to do a little something here and a little something there to compensate for that problem, so here's hoping that it all comes out right in the end.
We are installing quartz Silestone in the Lyra pattern. If any of you happen to be in Home Depot, and are the least bit curious, you can check it out.
I love the look of marble, but was talked out of the real thing as everyone says it is too soft for kitchen counters. Now, my most favorite designer, Sarah Richardson of HGTV fame, uses it all the time in her kitchens but since I couldn't talk to her, I took everyone else's opinion to heart. I also love granite but felt it might be too heavy for the style of our cabinets, so I think I got the next best thing. With only a very small piece to look at, I HOPE I got the next best thing!
Now the messy part will start:
The company doing the installation will be calling us when they get all their figures together and then we'll know how much time we have to get this part of the job done. The Captain doesn't think it will be too bad as he only worked a little while and got this much done so far.
So that's it in a nutshell. Not much in the way of a post, so also thought I'd show you that, Yes, Virginia, there is a garden fairy and she is starting to do her magic in the garden.
I was just over at Cielo's house in the roses, and found that the fairy, or as she calls it the witch, has paid her a visit as well. That's some busy little fairy!!
Judith at Lavender Cottage thought this plant may be a Cushion Spurge?
Will eventually be a large display of Lily's of the Valley.
Sweet little blue Forget-Me-Nots.

A healthy looking Hollyhock, either black or white.
Pretty Valerian or also called the Garden Gate flower.
The last of the brave little Daffodils.
The only Tulips that I have left in the garden, with thanks to the squirrels, with a little Myrtle or Periwinkle peeking out.
A rather bedraggled looking Calla Lily.
A few Fern fronds sitting in the sunshine.
A stately Peony that didn't do too well last season, so we shall see.
