California Arbor Day

I love taking pictures of trees.  Especially 'naked' trees.  For some reason they are more interesting to my eye that way than 'fully clothed'.

I read in the newspaper this morning that today is California Arbor Day and since I happened to have a few pictures of trees, in all states of dress, I thought I would share a few with you:

Alaska - Mendenhall Gardens

San Diego Palms

Crepe Myrtle - Winter

Crepe Myrtle - Spring

Crepe Myrtle - Summer

Crepe Myrtle - Autumn

And as the sun sets on Arbor Day:

Hope you had a good one...Judy

Confessions of an Addict

I confess.  I admit it.  I am an addict.  A house addict.

I love to drive for hours, just looking at houses.  Whether it be a small cottage or a mansion, old or new.  I start to salivate when I see a flyer advertising a home tour.  I have drug my poor, but willing, husband miles away from where he is comfortable so I can fulfill my addiction.  If I have seen a house that intrigues me in the daylight hours, I will want to go back at nighttime, and if the drapes are closed, heaven forbid!  How dare they shut me out of their world!

It's not that I want to see what they are doing inside their home, it is that I want to see inside their home.  Christmas time, is the best, as most people leave their drapes open in order to display their yuletide decorations, but their tree must be pretty small, so I can see around it!  A lamp, burning in the window, is just as beautiful to me as a glittering Christmas tree.

So let me take you along to see some of the charming homes in my little town and, in doing so, let me show you the joy of looking through my eyes.

I hope you enjoyed the ride.

So remember to keep a lamp in your window, and your drapes open, because you never know when I might be passing by.

Hope the rest of your week is filled with all good things....Judy

A Road Trip and...Finally, Snow

Hello all:

Word was that snow was expected Monday evening in the foothills down to 1000 feet.  Our elevation is about 2400 so we were excited.  First snowstorm of the winter.  We had planned on taking a road trip to see my sister's sweet little cottage that she is fixing up, and since she is at a lower elevation than us, we knew we would be okay as long as we didn't stay too long.

So we loaded Buddy into the car and off we went down historic Highway 49..

Saw a few signs of spring along the way.

But the clouds are getting a little darker.

Amador City, California

There really is a Nashville, California (don't blink)!

Looks like someone else took this same road trip.

And it looks like the skies are getting darker.

So we had a nice visit with my sister, Sid, and love what she is doing with her cottage.  Will share it with you when she gets it all put together.

Now we are on our way back home, about a 2 hour drive, and the sky is getting more menacing.   Hope we can make it before it starts snowing.

So we get home and go to bed.  Still no snow.  Buddy had a very busy day and he went right to sleep. Road trips really wear him out.

I'm sorry!! I just couldn't resist!!!

Fast Forward to this morning:

Sometime during the night it finally started snowing but it was kind of a let down.  It didn't snow as much as they thought it would.  But every little bit helps and I'm not complaining.  I put on my hoodie, grabbed my camera and ventured out into the cold.

Even though there wasn't much snow, it was really cold, and I thought, wouldn't a hot cup of tea taste good?

So I guess you can't tell what's coming:

                                                                        Yup, Tea for Two

Hope you are warm and enjoyed a Happy Leap Year Day.....Judy
