WHEN NATURE CALLS...

We are living in
 a troubled world.
 Even though
we all have seen our share of adversity,
 we have to admit,
these are especially
 tough times...

...and because
they are so tough,
 we need something that
takes us away from all the chaos.

There is a lot going on and
a lot of changes are being considered and though we need to be aware of it all,
  we still need a chance
to let it all go
 for even a little while.

We need a place that is
quiet and peaceful.

 We need something
that will soothe our souls
 as nothing else can.

When nature calls
we must go willingly and
follow in the footsteps of
one of the great ambassadors
 of the forest.

We can follow
 a country road and
not turn around
until we reach the beginning
of another.

You never know
what you might find
as you travel down a country road.
 There might be
a small patch of
brightly colored flowers...

...or a shimmering
body of water
surrounded by
sandstone cliffs...

...where someone
 with time on their hands
 has carved a relic
 of long ago...

...or a congregation of cows
 having a picnic
on the green...

...or handsome horses,
 taking advantage of
the shade from an
old oak tree.

You might see
 nothing in particular
except an amazing expanse
of pasture and trees
that will take
your breath away.

All up and down
the country roads
you will catch a glimpse
of old barns
 which have lost their usefulness
 over time.

Time is well spent
when nature calls.

 It is surprising
 how much of the
loudness of the world
 can be blocked out
 by the
sighs and the whispers of nature.

Have a wonderful week.

Summer will be here before it is over.

Stay smart, stay well and wear your masks.

...Judy...

  2. Your post is so beautiful. Times are so different right now. I wonder if things will ever get back to normal. Taking drives and getting out does help. We are surrounded by beauty with Mother Nature and wildlife.

    1. Thanks so much, Linda. Sadly, I am beginning to have real doubts if we will ever be able to get back to normal. Our cases in Nevada County are rising sharply and now the mayor of Nevada City is saying that it isn't against the law to not wear masks and people shouldn't wear them if they don't want to. From my perspective, I only speak for myself, that is just plain stupidity!..Stay well..xxoJudy

    1. Thanks so much, Janice. We had a fun ride and I did love that flag on the fence. Each time something happens, we always think that they will get better, so hope that is true..Stay well..xxoJudy

  4. Beautiful, Judy! What a gorgeous part of the country you live in. We have been taking many, many beach drives to quell our desire to leave the house. It's still not really safe out and many people aren't wearing masks. So we opt to see the world through the windshield in our crowded neck of the woods. Thanks for sharing your view with us! Be well! xo

    1. Thanks so much, Kim. We do have some pretty sites around here. Car rides are about the only thing I feel safe with now. So many people do not wear masks, in my opinion, they are just plain stupid. Speaking of views, I was just watching The View this morning and Joy was saying that her only entertainment was taking a ride and picking out ones not wearing masks. That seems to be my occupation now as well..Stay well..xxoJudy

  5. What a beautiful and thoughtful time-out, Judy. Things are so very different -- we try to make a normal but it isn't quite the same. I'm glad you could get out on such a road trip. It's safe and lovely, too

  8. Oh how wonderful it is to drive along country roads. That is one of my favorite past times... and always has been. Nothing like the greens of nature, the blues of the sky, and the animals to take our minds off of unpleasant things. I loved the view of the river, the mountains and trees, the wild flowers, horses, old barns and especially the flag on the fence. I think there are way more patriotic people in this nation than we think there are! Have a great weekend..... Marilyn

    1. Thanks so much, Marilyn. It was a very beautiful and restful drive. I do love the flag on the fence but sometimes I see the flag flown and it doesn't seem very patriotic to me. Hope I am wrong..Stay well my friend..xxoJudy

  9. Love those beautiful old weathered barns. Horses another. Nice thing about being in nature for us is not having to wear a mask. Good clean fresh air.
    Happy week ahead

  10. Thanks so much, Betsy. Aren't those barns something? and I have seen ones in other places of the country that are much prettier than what we saw. Those horses were beautiful. We sat for quite some time just watching the cows and the horses. It was good not having to wear a mask out there, but always have ours with us no matter where we go. I am going to PT for my back and everyone working there and almost everyone coming in wear masks. To be honest, I can't stand wearing that stupid thing but know how important it is. Wish everyone did..Take care and stay well..xxoJudy
