THE COLORS OF MY WORLD...

Do you use certain colors
for certain times of the year?
Looking back through
 a collection of past photos,
I can see that I do,
although I wasn't totally aware of it.

In January,
 after the holidays are over
and the snow people come to visit,
there is candlelight and warm colors
with bits of Christmas left behind.

When January is over
 and February rolls around,
there is a lot of pink and pastels
with some red in consideration
 of Valentine's Day...

...but then
the promise of spring
 lends itself to
 greens and yellows.

Then there is Memorial Day
 and on into July when
the patriotic colors
come on strong.

When summer hits with full force,
 blue and white
 along with pretty flowers
will again return just by themselves
and that seems to take care
of that part...

... but late summer and autumn
need some sunflowers
 mixed in with dried hydrangeas
and velvet pumpkins.

Around here
the holidays are always
red and natural greens
with the colors of each room
thrown in.

In spring this year
the grass is brightly vibrant
 and the valerian is
beginning to show up...
just beyond the garden gate.

The spring, this year,
 has been wonderful.
Just the right amount of
 breezes and sunshine...
..

...life gave us a few lemons
 but we didn't have to
 make any lemonade...

...just the sort of weather
that one would wish for
all year long.

I hope that all you moms had
 a wonderful Mother's Day.
I want to tell you about
the Mother's Day present
I got from Tami and Tim.

 Have you heard about
The Flower Letters?

Twice a month, for one whole year,
I will receive a letter
 delivered, the old-fashioned way,
 by the postman.
 The correspondence is between
Audrey Rose Drollinger
and Corporal Charlie Henderson Burke.
 The letters take place
during World War ll
and are centered on
one of the most significant days in history,
 June 6, 1944... D-Day.
 Their relationship develops
through their correspondence
and the significant role
they each play
in the day's events.
They are thrilling stories of
 history, mystery, adventure and romance.
I can't wait to get the first letter
and will happily share with you
 their journey
 along the way.

...Judy...

I would like to extend
a huge thank you to Linda
for including my lilacs
as one of the features last week
 at Love Your Creativity.
Thanks so much, Linda.
The pleasure was all mine.

  1. What a lovely post. Life certainly isn't all white and gray---as trends seem to insist it is. Love all the color, and of course the blue and white. Right now I'm with you with yellows and whites in my colorful home and always green! Hugs, Sandi

    1. Thanks so much, Sandi. It seems so refreshing to put a little yellow to the test after a cold winter. I hate to get ahead of myself but it is hard to not start thinking about summer..xxoJudy

  2. It is interesting how certain colors are brighter and more noticeable during the different seasons of the year. Hope you are doing well.

  3. I loved your post of many colors! Such fun and it does seem like each season has its colors. Yellow is such a perfect spring color, I agree on that. I love your bowl of lemons! They are so bright and cheery. What a pretty table centerpiece they make.. I may have to do that, plus drinking fresh lemon juice every day is so healthy for us. Right now, MY color is purple! We have tons of purple Irises blooming in our yard and it is so wonderful and gorgeous and makes me feel so good. We also have a few gold and burgundy ones and some yellow ones. I just need to add some pink ones to the mix! They are one of the few plants that seem to love our garden soil! I'm really not quite ready for summer and the HOT HOT weather. It's been so dry here and I'm already worried about forest fires and wild fires. I pray we don't have as many this year. Take care... Marilyn

    1. Thanks so much, Marilyn. I agree with you about the lemons, if they were real I would make some lemonade! Jerry bought a planter of iris from a neighbor at her garage sale. For the first two years that we had them they got green leaves but no blooms. We moved them to a different spot and now we have 6 buds on them. Can't tell what colors they are yet but sure am anxious to see them..I just heard that this weeekend there might be lightning and thunder storms up high. Sure do hope that doesn't cause some fires. We have already had a small one close to here..xxoJudy

  4. I never thought about it, but I guess I do! Reds and greens at Christmas, rusty colors in fall. Spring and summer are brighter, anything goes. Lovely photos, all!
