We have been on a wild ride
these last few months.
Old Man Winter has thrown every trick
in the book at us.
There is still white stuff on the ground. Now it isn't snow, it's hail.
Last evening
there were loud bursts of thunder
and lightening that lit up the whole sky.
The sun peeks through periodically
and spring is here.
We are hopeful.
The floor looks like this each morning.
It is Rugby's arsenal
and even though
all the squeakers are long gone,
they still are his pride and joy.
There is only one that still squeaks...
...the owl.
By squeaking him at the door
is the only way to get Rugby
to come in from outside.
He loves it that much!
Being outside and the owl,
and so far the owl is winning!
The kids sent us this pretty the other day.
It arrived when it was dark and dreary
and between
the flowers and the butterflies
it brightened up our moods considerably.
We have managed to get ourselves
up off of the couch
and from out in front of
the TV for awhile
to accomplish this...
I'm sure you remember
when the library looked like this?
Now,
it looks like this...
...and this.
It will continue to stay like this.
Where have you heard that before?
Hope spring has arrived in your neighborhood
and that we all
will get to reap her benefits soon.
...xxoJudy...

The library looks great. Your flowers and butterflies are so pretty. Glad you are seeing spring. California really had some weird weather. I think we all have had a weird winter. We see the Robins coming to the yard that is a good sign for us In Illinois that Spring will be here soon. Have a good week. Hugs. Kris
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Kris. I did see a couple of robins flying around the other day but since I wrote this post we have had more snow, more rain, more sunshine and are expecting the same for the rest of the week..Happy Spring..xxoJudy
DeleteYou've had such a long winter. I'm so glad spring has arrived for you at last. It all looks so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Jeanie. I guess I spoke too soon. Since I wrote this we have had a bunch more "weather". Sun is shining right now but expecting more snow and rain the the next few days..Happy Spring..xxoJudy
DeleteWhat a beautiful amazing library room. Yes I do remember what it looked like before. I so wish I had a cozy reading nook like this. The temps were in the low 50's today which was finally some Spring weather. We had bad winds on Saturday where we almost lost our gift shop awning. UGH Janice
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Janice. Having the room done up right is very pleasing and we are enjoying it. Jerry reads and I do the computer and we get away from the TV for a little bit. I remember when we had our motorhome and ran into some wind with the awning. Glad yours stayed safe..Happy Spring..xxoJudy
DeleteSo glad that you are seeing some signs of spring - inside, at least! Too funny about your pup and his toys. I had to laugh at the squeaker being the only thing that brings him in. I'll have to try that! Your library is so pretty. I love the soft colors of the woodwork and the beautiful chairs. Such a nice place to enjoy a quiet cup of tea and a few chapters of a good book. The flowers are such a thoughtful and pretty gift to receive. I hope that all of your wild and wet weather will pay off this summer with beautiful blooms to make it all worthwhile. Sending hugs xo K
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Karen. We are enjoying the room, Jerry reads and I work at the computer. It is peaceful and quiet and keeps us away from the TV for awhile! I wanted to switch the blue chairs from the sitting room and put them in the parlor so these chairs fit right into the library. Good colors all around. We are expecting more weather over the next few days but spring is on the way..Happy Spring..xxoJudy
DeleteOh, pretty pretty pretty----love the fabric on the library chairs...so warm and cozy---who needs to go outside. We are having 30 degree temp changes each day. We haven't moved into the greenhouse, mostly because of temps...and the work it takes to schlepp out there and monitor as we are up and down the stairs with the repair work downstairs, it's going so slow....! Take care and next week is supposed to be better thought wild too! Sandi
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Sandi. I like those chairs in the library too. The perfect color and I had a place to put them because I want to put the blue ones from the sitting room into the parlor. After I wrote this post we had more snow and rain along with bits of sunshine. We are expecting more of the same this weekend but spring is on the way. I hope..Happy Spring..xxoJudy
DeleteOh Judy... your library is wonderful! I bet those books are like old friends. I have many, but have been slowly getting rid of alot of them. I know I'll never read them again... but I do hang onto my most cherished favorites. I had to laugh at Rugby's toy stash! And love that daffodil plaque you have on the top of your blog. I can hardly wait to see some daffodils around here.. they are late coming that's for sure. We've had hail and snow too and super cold nights. Maybe around mid April I might be able to go out around town on a drive and see a few pops of color.. mostly forsythia and daffodils I think is all. I miss west of the mountains when I lived there.. by now there are probably tons of daffodils, camelias, azaleas, tulips and trees with pink cherry blossoms on them! I sure miss that. Once it's hot again, then I'll be yearning for the cooler days of "now"!!! Hugs to you! Marilyn
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Marilyn. I just have a few mounds of daffodils peeking above the ground. Who knows how long it will be before they bloom. I have noticed a few camelia buds on the bush and a couple of robins too so maybe it won't be too long for spring to get here. It is still cold with a bit of snow on the ground and expecting more this weekend..Winter can't be over soon enough for me but I think than I will begrudge summer too after awhile..Happy Spring..xxoJudy
DeleteSpring is taking its time getting here as well, Judy! We had such a mild winter, really, but now that it's spring there's a bite in the air...nothing like what you've been dealing with, but still not springy at all. LOVE your library. Oh my goodness, I think I'd be hiding in there all day. Your home is dreamy from top to bottom. I just adore every inch!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Kim. I appreciate your kind words but you wouldn't think so much about it right now. The library is done and we are enjoying it especially since the rest of the house is torn up now. Finally getting to taking the carpet up in the parlor and everything is sitting all around the place. Quite an undertaking for two old fools with bad backs! Will we ever learn?..Happy Spring..xxoJudy
DeleteSpring is not here for us yet. We have some sun this morning but rain coming later thru tomorrow and then some accumulating snow. I am OVER winter!!!! Your library is wonderful. I finally re-read the books that I wanted to re-read and donated a ton of books to the thrift store-giving some to the kids first that wanted them. I never thought I would do it but decided now was the time. I do miss the look of so many books on my shelf but feel pretty good about it. LOL at Rugby's toys. I pick all of Scruffy's toys up before bed. When he gets up he goes and grabs 10 or 12 of them out of his basket and drops them around the house. So much like a kid doing that. It makes me smile. I have finally had to toss a few of them because he worked the squeaker out of them and there was no way to repair them after I started seeing bits and pieces of stuffing here and there. lol
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day- xo Diana
Thanks so much, Diana. I can relate to your first sentence exactly. The same is happening here for this weekend. I need to get in and donate some books. I have so many really nice decorating books but they are so outdated now that I don't know if anyone would want them. It is funny, Rugby clamps his jaws down on the toys so that the squeaker if going constantly, from morning to night. He doesn't tear up the toys though he just wears out the squeaker. He still plays with them but not all you hear is a clicking sound. He must have very strong jaws..They really are so funny..Happy Spring..xxoJudy
DeleteJudy,
ReplyDeleteYou have had a worse Winter than we have in NEPA!! We have hardly had any snow at all!! But I have accepted it and am now ready for Spring!! LOVE that Library of yours!!! So pretty!!!
Thanks so much for stopping by and for taking the time to leave a nice comment!!!
I keep forgetting to change the comment from anonymous to Debbie-Dabble on the blogs that no longer automatically do so...
Happy Spring and April!!
Hugs,
Deb
Thanks so much, Deb. It must be nice for you to enjoy a little more mild winter. I can't believe the one that we have had. We are enjoying the library now and we just keep the door closed as the rest of the house is torn apart with new projects..Happy Spring..xxoJudy
DeleteHi Judy, we have had some crazy weather. I think we are on the road to warmer temps. Seeing Rugby’s toys reminds me of our Bella’s toys she is constantly dragging them out. Happy spring. Xoxo
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Linda. I hope we are over the worst of it. Those little guys sure do love their toys..Happy Spring..xxoJudy
DeleteHi Judy! I adore your library. I love the cozy colors and all your beautiful things. Hoping warm weather is on the way for you soon. I think we all need some sunny days. Happy Easter to you & yours. You are a blessing to all who visit your lovely blog. Jane
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Jane. I always appreciate your kind comments. We are having some nice sunny days now but it still is pretty cold. There is a bit of snow lingering in the nooks and crannies. I think spring is on the way though...xxoJudy
