UPTODATE...

Hi Everyone.  Hope all is well.

I have missed visiting with you

 for the last few weeks.

It has been very warm around here

and, for our own protection,

we don't move around too much.

A lot of sitting and TV watching,

with the most energy going to painting.

However, those aren't the only reasons why

I have been quiet.

Robin has been sick.  Very sick.

I think we almost lost her but she is now

on the road to recovery so we are very thankful.

She was listless and wouldn't take any food or water.

Our vets have been on top of it

 right from the beginning

and kept pushing for a full recovery.

They left no stone unturned and,

after what seemed like such a long time,

 they were successful.

She was fine one minute and then,

after a short morning trip outside,

she collapsed as she entered back inside

and we knew something was really wrong

 and called the vet immediately.

We had to take her in on an emergency basis

and they immediately took

x-rays, blood work and put her on an IV.

They saw an obstruction but couldn't tell if it was undigested food or a foreign object.

After a couple of days it did disappear

so did think it was undigested food...

 ...she was hospitalized

but we brought her home each night with the IV

as they don't have overnight staff to watch her

and she couldn't be left alone.

We then returned her in the morning.

She lingered like this for awhile

before she steadily started coming back to normal.

She is now doing well and is on a special diet

along with an arsenal of meds.

They can't really say what caused it all

but as long as she is improving and doing well

 will leave it alone.

If she should take another turn

then there will be more extensive tests.

As you can see,

she only has to roll those big eyes

to get what she wants

and that is one of three things.

  She either wants

us all to be on the couch, a treat or FOOD!

Usually three out of three ain't bad!

I have been painting a lot

 and am pretty happy about

finding this new style for me.

It is so colorful and simple

and seems to fit in with my abilities

better than anything more involved.

It just feels like a natural fit.

I want to thank you all

for your great support and kind comments

about what I have showed you so far.
You said you wanted to see more
 so, as the saying goes,
be careful what you wish for!

Until next time,

stay well and happy and cool.

...xxoJudy...

  1. Judy, so glad your little sweetie is doing much better. Dehydration in small animals is a real thing, especially during summer months. Hope all is well. LOVE, love your paintings; they are honest and colorful, and I love the seasonal themes. Take care and stay well!

    1. Thanks so much, Debra. She is doing so well now and is really getting tired of the prescription diet, so will have to see what else is out there. Still having fun painting. Hope that doesn't get old for me!..xxoJudy

  2. So happy your little Robin is on the mend. When things like this happen everything else in your world is put on the back burner, and nothing else matters except your pet. I hope you take care of you too. Much Love to you all.

  3. So glad Robin is doing better. We just lost our Shadow kitty a few weeks ago so I am still in a daze with his loss. Our pets become part of our family. I really really love all of your paintings. You are doing a fantastic job with this medium. Janice

    1. Thanks so much Janice. She is so much better now and I am so sorry for your loss. I am enjoying doing this style of painting. They are far from perfect but you can get away with a little more with this type of painting..xxoJudy

  4. I am so sorry to hear that Robin is doing better. It is so hard when you cannot tell them it will be ok and everyone is trying to help them. It's hard to see them be in pain or sick. I am glad your Vet was able to help her. Nice to see you post but do understand how life can take up a lot of time. I am up to my eyeballs in moving boxes. Two more weeks. Have a good week. Hugs. 1. Thanks so much Kris. She is doing well now. You must be getting close to moving now with more hard work of getting settled ahead of you. But, what fun and I am so anxious to see it all..xxoJudy

  5. Oh Judy, you must have been frantic. I'm so glad Robin is on the mend, but it is so very hard to see her ill and that worry. FIngers are crossed for a full recovery soon. Meanwhile, I am loving your painting -- it's a charming style and you do it well. I love color and that's a big part of it. I'm so glad you are sharing it with us -- keep it up!

    1. Thanks so much, Jeanie. She is back to normal and so cute. I am loving doing this art but still have a lot to learn about putting water and paint together. It is fun and I am way over doing it. I can't wait to finish one to start another. xxoJudy

  6. These are all amazing, Judy. Charming and original...like a 21st century Gramma Moses...so much fun to look at. Would make a wonderful set of prints...and glad your puppy is on to recovery. I have a friend with a similar pup issue, and she is basically on chicken and rice...and of all things melon and apples? The vet foods work for awhile, and then the same issue. I hope all goes well! 1. Thanks so much, Sandi. I am so far behind so apologies. Robin is still doing well although she is getting very tired of the diet food. I have been mixing her old food a little bit with the diet and so far she is eating all of it. She is pretty smart so probably will figure it out pretty soon. Thanks for your encouragement on the painting. I am loving to do it and so will continue. Be aware! xxoJudy

  8. I'm so sorry that you went through that with Robin, I'm so glad your pup is on the mend. That's the worst when you don't know what's wrong, poor babies can't talk and tell us what hurts!!

  9. HI Judy.... I LOVE all of your painting! They are so fun and whimsical and just so pretty! so glad Robin is doing so much better. So hard on us to see our pets not feeling good or knowing something is wrong but we don't know what. I hope she doesn't have anymore of those occurrences! It's been pretty mild here and I'm loving it.. it's what the coast "SHOULD" be! In the 70's and a light breeze and bright sunny days. Enough of that hot stuff we had for about a week! I do much more TV watching than I should be doing... so hard sometimes, to get myself up and out of my chair to DO something..although.. I must admit.. once I AM doing something, I do like it and I usually get on a roll for awhile, with whatever it is. I am trying to walk more.. or I should say I AM walking more, which I know is good to do. Take care Judy! xoxo Marilyn

    1. Thanks so much, Marilyn. Robin is doing really well but getting tired of the diet food so am adding in back a little of her old food. So far it is working. The weather is so pretty here as well, seems like early fall. Love it. Maybe it will get me off the couch and doing some favorable stuff. Then I will have more to say. Walking is a really good thing, one that I need to start doing! xxoJudy

  10. Judy, I'm so relieved to hear Robin is on the mend and doing better. It's so scary! Our sweet Sadie spent a good year with tri-weekly trips to the vet for hydration infusions. She had lost so much weight, and much of what we tried to feed her, she would have no interest. Unusual for her as she had always been food oriented and quickly ate what was in her bowl. She was 14 and had lived a full life. I trust Robin will continue to get stronger. She is adorable!
You know I so admire your style. These paintings are pure charm. They have a whimsical style that appeals to my senses. Bravo to you for sharing this talent!

    1. Thanks so much, Sarah. Robin is doing so much better now but is losing interest in her diet food so have to get imaginative. So sorry to hear what your sweet Sadie had to go through. I am still having fun painting, in fact, not getting much else done. Glad to hear you are enjoying them I have gotten good reviews and appreciate it all so much..xxoJudy

  11. Your paintings are amazing Judy! Isn't it wonderful to find a style that suits you, and each one is just as beautiful or more than the last one! I just was drawn into the darling country scenes that you shared! I'm so sorry about your precious Robin. It's so worrisome when our animals get sick! Thankful to hear that she is doing better! This heat has been a lot to deal with this summer, for sure. I think cooler days are coming. My maple tree is already starting to turn, isn't that amazing! Blessings and hugs for you :)

    1. Thanks so much, Marilyn. Robin is doing well now and is a happy pup again. Thanks so much for your kind words about my paintings. I am having so much fun with this style and think they kind of go with my style (crooked houses)!! I can't draw a straight line if I tried. I do want to keep practicing doing some "real paintings" and I tried one that turned out pretty well, I think. You will have to wait until my Fall cover picture to see if you think so..xxoJudy

  12. Sorry to read about Robin's illness but glad hear she improved. How can we ignore our furry family members when they look at us with those eyes. LOL Oh wow! I love your paintings. The last two I think are my favs. You can decorate, make a mean table setting, landscape and paint. Talented lady. Thanks for sharing.
