I am not doing much in the way of Thanksgiving decorations this year. We will not be home for dinner and I am trying to get a whole lot of projects done around the Cottage that, if we were smart, would have been well suited to leave until another time of year.
We are also spending New Year's in San Diego so will not be doing a whole lot of Christmas decorating either. It breaks my heart, but since we will be spending Christmas with the kids, then rushing home to take down decorations before leaving for the trip, so that we don't come home in February to all that entails, this is just the way it is this year.
This is a little Amish family that we picked up years ago at a country antique show we did...
This is how the Captain and I were dressed for that country antique show when we picked up the little Amish family...
We were supposed to dress up as fitting for the time of year and since they were simple costumes, easy to sew, this is what we chose.
I will leave you today with some words of wisdom that you might be well put to remember when you gather 'round the table on Thanksgiving Day...
"I ate too much turkey,
I ate too much corn,
I ate too much pudding and pie,
I'm stuffed up with muffins
And much too much stuffin',
I'm probably going to die.
I piled up my plate
And I ate and I ate,
But I wish I had known when to stop,
For I'm so crammed with yams,
Sauces, gravies, and jams
That my buttons are startin' to pop.
I'm full of tomatoes
And French fried potatoes,
My stomach is swollen and sore,
But there's still some dessert,
So I guess it won't hurt..
If I eat just a little bit more."

HI Judy! Sounds like you're going to be the busiest one for the holidays. But maybe it's nice to get to go and be with your family and not have so much to do! Hope you're doing well.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
What a fun trip to look forward to...You and the Captain make such a cute couple., I just love your Amish family, the pie looks delicious too...
ReplyDeleteHaving dinner out with friends and then off to Los Gatos for Christmas with my son and granddaughter. But I am putting up my Christmas decorations as I want to do a Christmas luncheon for a few girls friends. All the fall is put away until next year.

Oh I love your thanksgiving outfits - so darling. And your platter. Even love the silly poem. It sounds like you are going to have a wonderful fun filled, traveling holiday season - stay safe and enjoy every minute of it. We are having all our local family here for both events - in fact we are putting out some of the christmas dishes a little bit early because we have so much decorating to do. After being out of commission all of the holidays last year with emergency back surgery - I am so excited about this year.!!
ReplyDeleteJudy...I just had to laugh out at the poem.....how true! Love the Thanksgiving decor.. you have more than I do...So sorry for the no Christmas decor... That has happen a few times around here and I missed it... Blessings!
ReplyDeleteYou both looked so cute and I loved the poem.

Another lovely post Judy. Your posts are always full of loveliness and cheer me no end!
ReplyDeleteLove the little Amish family and you both look very handsome in your photo!
Did you do the turkey cushion? Its lovely!
Your Thanksgiving and Christmas sound wonderful to me. I'd rather be in sunny San Diego anytime than celebrating Christmas in cold Ohio. My brother and his wife live there and it is always our favorite place to visit. Have a wonderful holiday season where ever you spend it.

Thanks for sharing your pretty holiday decorations.....Your pie looks yummy!
Y'all are too cute in your Thanksgiving outfits!! How fun! That pumpkin pie looks delish too. I've been making lots of "trial runs" of different desserts for Thanksgiving. :) We always have pumpkin pie...it's a rule. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the vignette in that first picture, and those little Amish people have stolen my heart. I wish I could find a little family just like that. The T'giving, stitched pillow is wonderful too. Your pumpkin pie looks delicious, and the chalkboard is also great! How fun is that poem? I enjoyed this post so much. laurie
