Remember that old joke?
What is black, white and red all over?
If you do,
you know the answer is
"a newspaper"...
...but that is
old news and...
...this news story is,
well,
new.
Here is our new kitchen stove.
Is it what you expected?
I really thought
I would have something
different
to show you.
We started out
with the idea of
this stove being
exactly like
the old one.
A good, solid stove
in a
...but when we filled out the order
we were informed that
there were no black stoves
available
in this style.
There was almost
every other color
under the sun available
except black.
Wouldn't you think
black would be the
first choice for stoves?
Aren't most stoves
being used black?
Apparently not,
at least in our choice of style, and
we were determined to have this style.
Its size, shape and function
was just what we needed and wanted.
So what to do?...
...look around and
what stands out?
Red!
Almost as far as
the eye can see.
So,
that is the new punch line
to the old joke.
We are happy and warm
with our shiny new object...
...and now
red is
the new black and
how sweet it is!
Have a great day...
...Judy...
I'd like to add,
not as an afterthought,
but as my humble appreciation
to all of you and,
I don't speak these words lightly.
As of this coming Saturday,
I will have been blogging
for eight years and
I just turned 300 followers.
In the grand scheme of blogland
both those numbers
may not be entirely newsworthy
but, to me,
they are epic.
I can't tell you enough
how wonderful you all are and
how much I enjoy our interactions.
I could have
one million followers and
I wouldn't be happier.
The friends
I have made are BFF's that
I never thought I would have.
I appreciate what you feel
about what I do and
how you let me know those feelings, and
I appreciate that I can
come to you and
you let me do the same.
I think I have grown
in the way that I write and
in the photographs that I take and
it is all really
because of all of you.
I always imagined
a path that I could take
to showcase
what is important to me and
blogging turned out to be the way
but that path wouldn't be possible,
if you didn't
walk along with me.
Thank you all
for these wonderful eight years and,
as I am here for the long haul,
I hope there will be
many more.

Thanks so much, Thelma. I love my little stove too. The friendship, I think, is the greatest thing about blogging, along with every other good thing. Funny, though, I have always been a really good speller, but for some reason I find that once in awhile I can't even spell my own name! Don't know what that is about!..Happy Wednesday..xxoJudy

DeleteIt is perfect. I like it so much more than a black one. It goes so well with the rest of the room but adds a certain charm and interest.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Adrienne. When I look at a pic with the black stove now, I am so glad we weren't able to get one. The red color is really pretty. The old one does look better in the guest room..Happy Wednesday..xxoJudy

DeleteJudy, I'm SO GLAD you got the red stove! It is just perfect in your kitchen! Of course there is red everywhere... and what better to have than the red stove! It looks so cozy. And congrats on your 8 years of blogging. I think I started in around 2012 too.. mostly just to promote my Close to My Heart business, but it has evolved more now into just sharing my life and communicating with my blog friends. It is very precious to have made some good friends blogging! I just like "talking" "sharing" and "gabbing with friends".. so what better way than to blog??!! I've so loved your cottage and your sharing it with us/me.. and sharing bits of your life and family. Hugs to you! Marilyn
ReplyDeleteThanks, Marilyn. I feel the same as you about blogging and I appreciate that you have stuck with me over time. It is fun to exchange thoughts and ideas..Happy Friday..xxoJudy
DeleteHi Judy, the red stove is striking, black would have been boring after seeing the red! I enjoy your posts so much...the pictures of your lovely home, and the message that goes along with each post is always so thoughtful and many times very touching.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Lynda. I thought I wanted the black but, you are right, it just looks boring to me now when I look at past pics. I appreciate your kind words and am happy for your visits..Happy Friday..xxoJudy

ReplyDeleteI am one of those followers and also consider you a great and sweet friend. I am so happy you started your blog so we could meet in blogland and become friends. My life is enriched knowing you and enjoying your blog. I love the red stove by the way. Looks wonderful. It is kind of crazy black would not be a choice. The red looks great.
Hugs,
Kris

DeleteFirst of all Judy Happy Blogaversary...if that is even a word. :-) Second...love that red. It surely does make a statement in your kitchen. Things always happen for a reason and I truly think the red pops out more than the back would; even though I know you were disappointed at the time. Janice
ReplyDeleteThanks, Janice. I was disappointed at the time but, now looking back at a past picture I think we made the right move. Thanks for the Blogaversary congrats. That must be the correct word for it even though it says that I misspelled it..Anyway, I am glad to be here..Happy Friday..xxoJudy
DeleteEight years is a long time, Judy!! I think that's wonderful. I can't remember when I was first introduced to your site, but I was hooked right away. Between your warm cottage style and your warm personality, I knew I had found a kindred blogging friend. I mean a red stove?? We could be twins!! I adore the way it looks in your home. I know I say it all the time, but I really, really want to shop your house now. 🥰
