1. A constantly changing set of colors
2. Constantly changing phases or events
Life is a kaleidoscope.
It is ever changing and
sometimes the colors are brighter
than other times.
The seasons change,
each one bringing a different event, and
a different perspective
to the way we look at
the world around us.
We grow up,
we grow old, and
how we manage all that,
even though our
surroundings and circumstances
have much to do with that process,
it is mostly up to us,
as individuals,
to figure it out on our own.
In a perfect world,
our innocent selves would prevail and
we would view all
that we see and do
through the eyes of a child.
Eyes that are still
uncorrupted by
life itself.
Sometimes we get lucky.
Sometimes it is an uphill struggle.
Whatever the case,
if we do what we think is right,
it usually comes out OK.
We make mistakes
all the time.
We must be able to forgive ourselves
these mistakes and
go on with a clear eye
so that the future
comes into focus and
we learn to live there
in peace and harmony.
Where did
all this wisdom come from,
you ask,
and why?
I'm really not that deep.
I was sitting here
in my mistake filled sitting room,
thinking
it doesn't look too bad and
reminding myself that
this can and will be fixed in time and
seeing that
a tulip on the coffee table,
almost at its life's end,
was still beautiful
at its core.
A kaleidoscope of views
that could be, and
probably will be in another time,
so much worse than
they are right at this minute.
It is a phase and event
that holds so much gratitude
for the
here and now...
...and a reminder that
if we keep our minds and hearts
clear and open,
clear and open,
for however long we can,
we will be able to always
see and appreciate
the changing colors

How beautiful all these pictures are Judy. I think we have to always keep open to changes and new colors in our lives. I am amazed at how much I am embracing blue coming into my white and neutral world.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Kris. It really is amazing how we can adapt to something that we never thought we would. In looking for a piece of art I am amazed at how I am liking the impressionists and water colors. In fact I ordered a book to teach me how to paint with watercolors. We shall see, but it is fun thinking about..xxoJudy
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely and thoughtful post. Talk about change, have you noticed how many people have stopped posting. It's so sad, I really enjoy reading other blogs. It is a bit hard to always be thinking of things to post about, but I hate to think of giving it up altogether. I guess that Instagram has had a big impact on blogging, but I really don't know. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteAdrienne, I have noticed that a lot of bloggers have stopped blogging or maybe not as often. I realize that those who post every day have to as they make money on it, but I just wouldn't have anything to say if I had to do this every day. When I first started blogging, I had no idea that you could make money off of it so I came in with the attitude that I just wanted to see what others are doing with decorating and that is what I wanted to show for myself. If I posted more than once a week it would be a very boring blog. I thoroughly enjoy seeing what others are up to for any reason and don't mind, too much, wading through the ads but I just don't want that hard of a job. This is a fun endeavor for me and if it begins to look like too much work then I might just hang it up, but I hope not. I think Instagram probably has a lot to do with it. I have a hate-hate relationship with the telephone. To see someone walking around with it permanently stuck to their person, turns me off so I don't do Instagram and really don't know too much about it. There again, those that make money need all the devices working for them..Hope you stick around as it is always such a treat to see what you do..Happy Wednesday..xxoJudy and thanks so much for the visit.
DeleteI can remember having a kaleidoscope they were such fun to look through …
ReplyDeleteI like the way you've wound this post and your thoughts together.
My good wishes.
All the best Jan
Thanks so much, Jan. As I often do, I find it hard to think of something interesting to write about, this started with that tulip. I had been thinking about throwing them out for a couple of days but looking at the center, they still looked so pretty, and reminded me of a kaleidoscope. I happened to have the toy one laying around and after looking up the definition in the dictionary, I came up with the post. See, that is how my mind works so is it any wonder that it takes me awhile to think of something to write about?..Happy Wednesday..xxoJudy
DeleteYour post was filled with much wisdom today. Enjoyed reading this. Janice

DeleteThanks so much, Janice. It just happened as I looked at that pretty tulip and thought Oh, that looks just like a kaleidoscope. After searching in the dictionary, finding the right words for what that means, and it happened!..I'm glad you liked it and Happy Wednesday..xxoJudy
DeleteSee what I mean when I say I'm not that deep? I typed the same message twice??..xxoJ

DeleteWhat a lovely and thought-provoking post! I laughed when you said, "I'm not that deep." You might be deeper than you think. On another note, I do indeed love those close-ups of the depths of the blooms. They're lovely and I always love looking into the flowers like that!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jeanie. That is what started it all, just looking into that pretty flower. I love doing that too. Most everything starts at the "heart" of the matter doesn't it?..Happy Wednesday..xxoJudy
DeleteBeautiful and thought provoking post today Judy! Yes I believe we must appreciate all of the life's changes and colors and twirling messes (sometimes) or swirling beauty, even if it's not what we planned or hoped for.... life is so ever changing and it is just better if we can embrace all of it! I don't think your sitting room is a mistake at all! I think it's gorgeous just the way it is! Hugs to you... Marilyn
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Marilyn. I believe we should be as happy as we can, when we can. There is so much negative stuff in our world but we should always be able to find a little beauty in there someplace..Happy Wednesday..xxoJudy
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures and lovely thoughts, Judy. And I had to laugh....my mistake filled sitting room...I don't think so! Hugs!!

DeletePerfectly wonderful post...sometimes, we need to unfocus and look at all the prisms of our lives. We lost my mother-in-law this week, and the whirlwind of family/friends/memories were definitely a kaleidoscope. I really enjoyed applying this whirlwind to the late reading of your post...but it made me smile and just remember even more of the wonderful snapshots of life with Mom.
ReplyDeleteSandi, I'm so sorry for your family's loss. I'm glad I could make you smile a little. It is wonderful when we can look back and smile at life with our loved ones whom we have lost. Grieving is good for the soul but doesn't do them justice the way fond memories do. I think we are lucky when we can think of those times..xxoJudy
ReplyDelete"Loved the analogy you made with kaleidoscope and life Judy! Yes indeed, colors are brighter
ReplyDeleteat times, you have captured the best contrasts that I have ever seen. I am pinning them to my wallpapers board. It is said that a picture speaks a million words, along with your captions your pictures are dancing their hearts out. Cheers!"
Thanks so much, Andrea. That is such a nice compliment. I owe it all to the pretty tulips. Just looking at the center brought to mind the subject..Happy Weekend..xxoJudy
