ONE DAY AT A TIME...

It's just another day...

But,
I found some pretty red camellias
 surviving in a corner
of the garden.

It's just another day...

But,
 the sun is shining in
through the windows.

It's just another day...

But,
we were able to eat dinner
overlooking the
Secret Garden.

It's just another day...

But,
 I was able to paint
one more picture
(which I really did paint - no tracing).

It's just another day...

But
we could relax,
by candlelight,
at the end of it.

It's just another day...

But,
 we made it through and
now we know
we can make it through
another one.

As I usually do,
 I started writing this post
 a couple of days ago.
  Since that time
 there has been talk
of starting the country back up.
I know that there are
a lot of reasons why
this should happen,
but as I have stated
to many of you
in my personal comments,
I am afraid that it might
be coming too soon.
 If this does happen,
only time will tell the actual outcome.

I stand with my opinions but
support and respect your opinions also.
 Whatever I say here
only pertains to my feelings and
I believe that this
 is a horrible situation
that could possibly end
many more lives than it already has.

Of all the essential jobs
required for
this situation we find ourselves in,
 I feel this is
the easiest one.

If my staying home,
and staying safe and well,
can help just one person,
  just one already over burdened
front line worker,
then I will continue
to carry on,
as I have been,
one day at a time.

  1. such lovely red camellias and I love the way you arranged them. That dinner looks delicious. Coincidentally, for the past couple of nights I have been eating something similiar, if not so elegant - burritos, sadly I didn't have any sour cream, darn. but they were pretty good anyway. When I cook a pound of ground beef it lasts me for 5 meals, so I always freeze most of it for later. I have started using my very old vacuum sealer again and now I can't figure out why I ever stopped, it has been so handy. I totally agree with you about stopping precautionary practices too soon, and I am very willing to stay home longer so that others can get back to their jobs - but just not before it is safe!

  2. Thanks so much Adrienne. I always said I was going to get one of those vacuum sealers but never did and now would be the time to have one. I call that dish Floating Tacos. We all love it and it is great if you are having a crowd. For just the two of us we eat it for three or four days and don't get tired of it. It's got everything except the kitchen sink, and would only be better for whatever is added. That old camellia bush is on the backside of the garden and never gets much attention. The flowers are not very big but just plain and pretty. I hope the plans for opening up go well but I am glad that our governor is holding back awhile, even then I don't think I will change my stance for quite awhile...Stay well..xxoJudy

  3. I love your painting, and your nachos look wonderful. Beautiful flowers. Oh, yum! I really don't want MIchigan to open up anytime soon. Certainly not in any big way. We haven't hit peak here. Stay well, Judy.

    1. Thanks, Jeanie. That is the best meal, everything but the kitchen sink is in there. CA's governor was speaking this morning on plans for around here, but I didn't get a chance to watch it. Will see on evening news. I hope it is not too soon, but, nevertheless, I'm not going anyplace soon..Stay well..xxoJudy

  4. What beautiful sunshine pics! My Spring flowers are just now starting to appear. We snow again here in Michigan. I hope my tulips do not freeze. Would love to see some pops of red in my garden like your red flowers! Janice

    1. Thanks so much, Janice. That red camellia is back against corner of garage. A place where I don't go too often!! One of those places! It is a pretty flower but I kind of forget it usually until it's almost through blooming. We are having some really pretty weather and the lilacs are almost blooming!!..Stay well, xxoJudy

  5. Pretty pictures, Judy! Love that red stool...and yes, we're still in a total lockdown mode here. It's moving in the right direction even if it hasn't yet peaked in my area, but people are getting restless and I fear that there will be some uptick in the infections again. Not sure where it all ends or what the right thing to do is...but for now, we are staying home. Take care! xo

    1. Thanks, Kim. They are going to have to prove very much to me before I will venture out. Only necessities but nothing else until I feel it is safe, and predictions are that it will ramp up again once things open up. I think that is about the only thing I believe when I hear anything said..Stay well..xxoJudy

    1. Thank you so much, Linda. I always enjoy seeing all the pretties that come to the party. I am enjoying the painting and it does take up some time. I find the more I sit around, the more I want to sit around, so it gives me a little bit of productivity..Take care and stay well..xxoJudy

  8. Oh dear Judy ~ what a lovely post, in photos of your sweet, comforting home and in your thoughts. I am inspired to keep living 'one day at a time', to see and enjoy the beauty and the good in each new day we are blessed with. ~ It's 43 days since I left the property, and while I'm itching to go out to do my own grocery shopping, I will refrain from rushing right out until it does seem safer to do so. It seems a bit soon to go out and try to get back to 'normal'. May God have mercy on this world. ~ FlowerLady

  9. Thanks so much, Lorraine. Your kind words always make me smile. I think we have to take it slow in most things we do now. I haven't counted the days since I've been out but I did have to take the little dog to the vet today. My grandson sent us both a mask so I wore that with rubber gloves, even though they come out to the car so we don't have to go in..I felt pretty safe that way, but it will not be until I can believe that the chance of infection is over, will I go shopping and I'm afraid that will be awhile yet..Stay safe and well..xxoJudy

  10. I agree with you totally Judy! I will stay home longer.. even if "they" say they are opening things up. It would feel so WEIRD to actually go into a restaurant and sit close to people! I've been to a few stores, but usually when almost empty so don't get close to anyone.. I'm not ready to venture out into the public for a while yet, and do hope things don't open up too fast. I do worry about the small businesses that have been closed and whose owners may lose their livelihood, but I still think it's too early. I LOVE your red camelias.. my mom used to have a huge bush by her front door - those remind me of her! And I love how you stated "it's just another day".. and yet find something beautiful each day to be thankful for. Helps to keep things in perspective. And oh.... it's dinnertime here and those tacos look wonderful! Yum.m.m. Marilyn

    1. Thanks so much, Marilyn. A small coffee shop in town has opened up, but the newspaper stated this morning that the local hospital is gearing up in case of a something that might be coming. I will not go out until the testing is better or our governor says it is safe. I think CA governor is doing a good job and keeps us all up to date. Just another day is a good thing, there are alot that can't say that anymore, so doing what we are doing is the most important thing to me. Stay well and take care..xxoJudy

  11. Judy,
    Good Morning!!
I always look forward to your posts... I love seeing your beautiful home, and garden and paintings....Thanks so much for sharing...We are all doing fine here in NEPA...I am always busy but then again, that is me....never bored...As far as opening up the Country...I do beleive that it needs to happen but in very slow increments depending on cases per population as Pa. is planning to do. Our governor outlined a very detailed 3 stage plan which I do agree with. Our county, which has a very high amount of cases which are concentrated in one particular area because of the factories in Industrial Parks there employing 500- 900 people per plant, will be one of the last ones to open up. Now this is my opinion as a former health care professional of 42 years...The longer we isolate, the longer it will take for people to develop an immunity to this virus because of lack of exposure. I am a firm believer in acquired immunity and I never shielded my children from anyone who was ill because of fear that they would catch something when they were young. And interestingly so, my sons were seldom sick...even with a cold. I do believe that we need some exposure to develop an immunity. I have been following the News stories on Sweden which did not do a mandated Lock Down and are trying to see if what they call a Herded Immunity occurs... Which is pretty much like acquired immunity...But only time will tell what will work and what will not. I am supporting Pa's very gradual plan for reopening depending on number of cases per population. I think you need to do it but backed by Science and Statistical research and not pressure from certain groups of people and Politicians.
Stay safe, healthy and happy, my friend and thanks so much for stopping by!!
    Hugs,
    Deb

    1. Thanks so much, Deb. I'm glad you and family are staying well and busy. It just takes a little common sense to get through it all, but when some idiot suggests that shooting disenfectant into our veins might be a cure, and being afraid that someone might listen to that, maybe common sense has gone by the wayside and, to me, that is down right scary. In our newspaper this morning, the hospital is gearing up for problems and then one little diner has opened up to inside eating. It has been the hangout for the good old boys all these years so, I guess, to them that is using common sense. We all do what we have to..Take care and stay well..xxoJudy

  12. Yes- We have been making it through day-by-day, too. It is what it is. Our county in WI is now the epicenter for CV19. Scary stuff, isn't it? I am glad that you are doing well. I agree and feel it is too early to be opening things back up when the virus is SO contagious and nothing works on it...but...people will do what they will do.
    Stay Safe- xo Diana

  13. Hi Judy I so enjoyed your post, as I'm really having a hard time with all this since it's only exacerbated because of health issues. I just read your reply to Debbie. I'm standing up and applauding your words. We've sat here for almost 4 years and put up with nonsense and lies trying to be supportive Christians and citizens of the country. I've really had enough and hope this latest will open the eyes of our country. thankyou! xo

  14. Thank you so much, Debra. I appreciate your thoughts on the subject and now, you have opened me up to get on my soap box! I try not to say too much how I feel as it only causes hard feelings in some people but I have very strong thoughts when it comes to the guy in the White House and if someone gives me the chance I will let them know. Like you, I have had enough and am tired of his ego running this country and the harm he is doing to it and to all of us. When no one will stand up to him and his foolish actions I can't help but wonder where our American values have gone. Ricky Gervaise, the commedian, said in 2016, "When I saw they had to label a bottle of Clorox "Do Not Drink", I knew that Donald Trump could become President." How true that was!!..Take care, Debra, and stay well. Hopefully this "all" will be over soon..xxoJudy
