ANOTHER STATE OF MIND...

"Tomorrow we shall go to the seaside!
I very much want to see the big waves coming in,
and the tiny crabs, and the sand castles".

The Velveteen Rabbit

Last week,
 I wrote that we were
suffering through a horrible heat wave.
This week it is not so bad.
Whether we are just getting used to it or not,
 I don't know.
Eighty degrees used to seem so hot,
now it seems practically frigid.
Maybe it is just that my "fool the eye and the mind" plan
is working, so in order not to jinx it,
I will carry it on this week.

The photos I am showing today are from awhile ago.
I have played with them a bit,
because that is what I like to do
and, also, to make them look newer
to your eyes.

It has been awhile
since we have been to the beach,
but the scattering of small shells around
does bring a feeling of it
 to the mountains.

Just looking at a long ago memory
can bring back the sound of waves crashing in the distance,
and then, softly, touching the shore.

If it seems like I am 'fishing'
for something to write about, I am.
I had a whole other post written
 but something I ordered,
 something which makes
 the whole story make sense,
 didn't arrive in time
so, hopefully,
you will read about it next week.

I did plan on this part though
and it is important for me
 to share it today...
I wouldn't be surprised
if you knew it was coming:

What goes around, comes around.
 We are again going backwards
 closely to square one
as far as the Corona virus is concerned.

 The simple fact is:
the more the virus becomes exposed,
 the more it mutates.
 The only way, now,
that it can mutate
 is through unvaccinated individuals.

I am thinking back to the beginning.
This virus came out of nowhere
and took us all by surprise.
 It quickly turned into something
that we would never imagine
 in our wildest dreams.
 What wouldn't we do
to have something at our fingertips
that could keep it at bay
and keep people from getting
so sick and dying?

We were told
that we were all in this together,
and I assumed
that we all would give anything
to have the ability to stop it.

 Hello!!!
 Now we have a vaccine.

 We made a quick trip
 to Santa Cruz last Friday
and sat in traffic for too many hours.
To pass the time,
we listened to talk radio
 and I was truly appalled
 at the amount of callers
who were under so much misinformation
 about the vaccine.
 It was mind blowing.
I don't know where they are
getting their facts
 but it is downright scary.

There is much talk of incentives
being thrown around
to convince people to get the vaccine.
Could that be any more selfish?
How about trading your loved one's
possible life
for a ticket to a ball game?
 Think about it!
You are trying so hard
to not let the government control you
(or so you think)
that you are forgetting how much jeopardy
 you are putting your
neighbors, communities and families in,
not to mention ones who are unable,
 for health reasons,
to get the vaccine.

The time for babysitting is over!

 Wise up,
 get your shots,
and quit complaining about wearing masks.

 It may sound very simplistic
but it will be so good
when we can all trust each other again.
That will be getting back to normal
which used to be what
everyone said they wanted.

We now have the means.

 Make it happen.

  1. I am surprised, too, by the people that will not get the vaccine for fear of the 'what if's. The benefits so outweigh what "might" happen that it just doesn't make sense to not get it.

Love your pictures-even the old ones. I also posted old pictures today of life as it used to be. lol

I hope you have a blessed night, Judy- xo Diana

    1. Thanks so much, Diana. I was just through reading your newest post and was clicking to answer when I saw this so am addressing this first. I say I am appalled and I am but, really, I am not surprised. I have heard such ridiculous reasons from ones in my own family and it just is making me mad now. Gone are the niceties of explanations, here is the mean old lady letting it fly! It is beyond ignoring for me..Anyway, the nice little old lady is back so I am over to you again..Happy Summer..xxoJudy

  2. I yearn for the coast too.. haven't been for 2 years and I have a short video I made 2 years ago of the waves crashing and spraying mist.. so I keep going back to it and looking and listening! I love your pics of the seashells.. at first I thought it was food! Take care and hope it's cooler there this week. It is a little cooler today, but only today.. then back up to the 100's again. xoxo Marilyn

    1. Thanks so much, Marilyn. I do miss the ocean sometimes, but hubby really misses it. We have been a little cooler but don't know how long it will last. Hope you are not too close to that big fire..xxoJudy

    1. Thanks so much, Janice. There are some fires burning but nothing that close to us, yet anyway. It has cooled off some but then the winds pick up, which is not a good thing either..xxoJudy

    1. Thanks so much, Kim. Our timing is perfect. I just finished a visit to you. We must have been typing at the same time. See I am busy!..I know your beach time is important to you so glad you are enjoying it. We are cooler right now anyway..xxoJudy

    1. Thanks so much, Debra. This whole thing makes my blood boil and I suppose there are ones that don't like to see this on a blog, and it might be presumptious of me to think I could change anything, but I have to speak my piece and try. It is just so frustrating to see how little attention is paid to all of this and I certainly appreciate everyone that takes it seriously. Our counts here in our small county went up by 60 yesterday. I would say that is something to pay attention to..Happy Summer..xxoJudy

  6. Oh your pics are so pretty. The sea and the beaches are gorgeous. We have been so hot here in the midwest. The weather this summer has been so out of sorts like everything else I imagine. Our numbers for the virus suffers are that 95% of those sick and losing their lives from the virus are unvaccinated people. Just not sure why people will not get the shot. It is already proving it works and keeps you from getting the virus. Have a great rest of the week. Glad it is cooling down for you. xoxo Kris

    1. Thanks so much, Kris. The days have been pretty nice this week. Our covid counts here in our little county went up by 60 yesterday. There is no excuse for not getting the vaccinations or for wearing masks. I am losing faith in a lot of people over this. There is no excuse and they don't need to be babied anymore!..Happy Summer..xxoJudy

  7. It's so beautiful! I love the sea. We go there every year with my family. My salon is decorated in a marine atmosphere. It is wonderful to rest in it :)

    1. Thanks so much. I love seeing the ocean especially during a storm, but I find that I can't live around it. I spent the first 50+ years of my life there but the fog finally got to me, but on a very hot day, it does look good..Happy Summer..xxoJudy

  9. Well said, Judy. My thoughts exactly. I just read two articles today in the NyT -- one about how people are getting reinfected (remember, it isn't 100 percent effective) and the other about how 65+ will most likely need a booster soon, especially with Pfizer. A lot of recommendations for masks within any crowded setting or indoors. It looks like we are falling back again and I just hate seeing that. I'll look forward to your next post!

    1. Thanks so much, Jeanie. We are definitely falling back and what a shame. Even the news that it is the unvaccinated that are being hospitalized and dying doesn't seem to make much difference. So sad, when it is such an easy fix. Now, I am hearing that people that live around all the wildfires (hello!) are more likely to get Covid. When have you ever heard that if you do everything right, you still can't win?! We have heavy smoky skies again.. Sounds like you are enjoying time at the lake. I am happy for you..xxoJudy

  10. Judy,
I knew this would happen so I am not surprised....My family Dr. told me they suspected a surge come the Fall but that was before the masking mandates were lifted so it is coming faster than the health care community predicted....I have still not ventured out much because of exactly what is happening now...When I do go out, I still wear a mask even though I am fully vaccinated.... And I think we will see a mask mandate come back but there will be those people who will revolt against it....Unfortunately, we have become a ME, ME , Me society.....I just packed away my Patriotic decorations so I will be decorating in my "Under the Sea" theme soon so I loved this post....Thanks too for stopping by!!
    Hugs,
    Debbie

    1. Thanks so much, Deb. I think they are going to have to make a mask mandate. You and I are on the same page. The ones posting all the misinformation need to be dealt with, otherwise all the "sheep" will continue to do what they do. The Republicans are now (some of them) owning up that the right thing to do is get the vaccine. I guess they finally figured out that pretty soon there won't be any of their constituents left to vote for them!..Happy Summer, my friend..xxoJudy

  11. Glad you got away, its been wretched, you are a bit higher up than me if you are seeing 80s, I think since may we have not varied more than 10 degrees up and down from 100 🤒 with you 100% on your vaccine thoughts, but your preaching to the choir. Politics and science, who knew how deadly the combination could be...

    1. Thanks so much, Jain. It has been wretched. We are staying pretty much in the 90's these past few days. Our fans are working overtime. We're at about 2400 ft., just below Nevada City. I wish everybody agreed with me on the shots then we wouldn't be in the shape we are in. I am more mad now than empathetic. There is no excuse for it unless your doc tells you so. Close to 41 years ago, I gave up smoking, not because I wanted to but because science said it was bad for the people I was around. I speak from experience, so I have no sympathy for anyone who will not get a shot or will not wear a mask, unless for medical reasons.. I realize I am speaking to the choir, but it is something that I have to do occasionally. Just don't get me started!..Happy Tuesday..xxoJudy
