'TIS THE SEASON...A CHRISTMAS COTTAGE BY CANDLELIGHT...

We did have a small amount of

 snow covering our rooftops

and we also had the miracle of lots of rain.

 The perfect setting for

a light filled Christmas tour.

Everything is calm, everything is bright,

 all the lamps are lit

and the stoves are alight.

 It is warm and cozy

just the way Christmas should be.

 The fragrance of the holidays

 is carried throughout,

and the Cottage sparkles

with the promise of Christmas magic.

 I can't believe

that the big day is almost here

but, for now,

there is a small space left

for peace and quiet

and taking time to take a breath

and celebrate this

 beautiful winter holiday season.

We will start the candlelight tour

in the place we last left,

 THE KITCHEN:

THE DINING ROOM:

We were planning on having

Christmas dinner with the kids on Sunday,

but Tami came down with a bad cold,

 she tested negative for Covid,

 but still felt miserable

and didn't want to take the chance

of passing it on to the rest of us

so we put our plans off

 until they can all get

their working schedules in a good place.

To us, it doesn't matter,
as long as we are all well and together.
So while everyone else  will have
  finished their celebrations,
we will still be looking ahead
with joyful anticipation.
 That just means
I can keep the decorations up
 a little longer.

I think we will bundle up

and take a ride to see

the Christmas lights in town...

...the stars will still be shining...

...just like the sign says.

THE SITTING ROOM:

THE PARLOR:

THE ENTRY:

Now we are back where we started

all those weeks ago.

Time does have a way of moving on

and what was a beautiful beginning

is now close to ending,

although still beautiful.

The memories are what is now important

and we will cherish and hold them dear

for the rest of forever.

I will leave you now

with blessed wishes for a new good year

and will return

 before the winter is over.

Thank you all for your continuing friendships and kind words.

You all, and the writing of this blog,

are wonderful joys in my life.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year...

...xxoJudy...

  1. Judy.....your house is so very lovely at this special time of year. I know you are among the old souls out here in bogland...just wondering if you put all this up yourself. If you do, I am doubly impressed. I can barely manage one room, let alone the whole house.
    Blessings to you.

    1. Thanks so much, Kris. We are just sitting back and enjoying it all right now. I have only been using real candles as the electronic ones don't photograph too well for me but that means we have to sit a watch for awhile and blow them out when we leave the room..Merry Christmas, my friend..xxoJudy

  5. Hi Judy! Your home is absolutely stunning and is such a delight at Christmas. The goat on the kitchen table just stole my heart. He is just darling! I also adore how beautiful your wallpaper looks when your room is decorated for Christmas - so charming and inviting. I could go on and on about all the many things I love about your Christmas decor. You have such a gift for making a beautiful home. Merry Christmas friend - you are a joy! Jane

    1. Thanks so much, Jane. I don't know what a joy I am but I do have a joyous time doing it all. I'm glad that shows through. You wouldn't think that that blue flowered wallpaper would be a good backdrop for red and green but somehow it does work. I love it too..Have a wonderful Christmas, my friend..xxoJudy

  6. Oh, Judy, what a beautiful, cozy Christmas home you have created! I would be in Heaven just wandering around peeking at all your lovely scenes and perhaps settling in to one of your comfy chairs with a cup of tea and a sweet chat with you. I'm sure you have many sentimental stories for all of your treasures. It all looks so welcoming, from the front porch to the sweet kitchen filled with treats. Enjoy your Christmas with your loved ones and wishing you many blessings for the coming new year. Hugs xo K

    1. Thanks so much, Karen. There are a few stories behind some of the things that I have so much of. The most fun I have had at Christmas was many years ago when we first moved to the Cottage and a few of my neighbors got together and had open houses for the holidays. It was so much fun and I absolutely love sharing so it was an unforgettable time. That is why I love to blog so much, I guess. I hope in this new year my mind can think of subjects to post about. I'm afraid that after Christmas I will go blank again!..Many happy moments to you and your family too, my friend, and a very Merry Christmas..xxoJudy

  8. Oh Judy.. you have outdone yourself this year! What beauty your home holds.... what nostalgia! In so many ways, your home looks like the way my mom decorated our house all those years ago, in the 50's and 60's and 70's.... and she kept it up long into her 80's! I don't know how she (and you!) did it! Your kitchen is such a joy to behold in the soft evening light of candles and tiny lights. It brings back such memories for me. I have hardly put out any decorations this year.. just couldn't get myself motivated.. maybe next year. At least my tree is up and lit and a few ornaments on it, and a wreath over my woodstove. That's about it.. I do have some twinkling fairy lights I've placed here and there.... it's the "feeling" of Christmas that I cherish.. which I do feel... even without decorations! Take care and have a lovely Christmas! xoxo Marilyn

    1. Thanks so much, Marilyn. I agree with you that no matter how many decorations are up the feeling of Christmas is what matters. You have had much to contend with the last couple of years and I'm so glad that you haven't lost the feeling. It will get better with time, my friend. Hope this new year coming will be a better one for all of us. There is a lot of sadness in this world and, hopefully, we can all get out from under it in time... Merry Christmas..xxoJudy

  12. Your candlelight tour is beautiful. I'm so sorry Tami has Covid -- I'm sure it was both an easy and hard decision to stay home and I'm sure it was a little harder not to have her there but wise. Christmas is, after all, whenever we make it, as Tiny Tim would agree. Happiest In-Between week, and I hope you can celebrate soon!
