Two steps forward and three steps back.
That seems to be the name of the Spring Game.
You all seemed to enjoy our big red camellia bush
so I thought I would pick some to bring inside
to show you how they would brighten up the kitchen.
It was a very sunny day when I did that
and by the time I was ready to take a photo,
the sun had disappeared and the rain came down.
The lighting was so bad
that you really couldn't tell
exactly what color the flowers were
so, I thought about the pretty
red and white checked tablecloth
that I used at Christmas
and thought that might do the trick
of brightening the room up...
...it helped a little but just not enough.
By this time,
the camellias were falling off the stems
and it was too wet to venture out to pick some more
so, I added a few faux red poppies
that I had stowed away
and that seemed to do the trick.
"There's no use in grumbling
When the rain drops come tumbling
Remember, you are the one
Who can fill the world with sunshine.
When you smile and you sing
Everything is in tune and it's spring
And life flows along
With a smile and a song."

The photo above the line "There's no use in grumbling" is so charming. I like the checkered table cloth and pillow. And the bowl of lemons is so sunny. I don't know where you are, but we've had more than our share of rain in the NE.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your kind words. I am in Northern California and it seems the weather is crazy all over. I usually plan my posts a couple of days ahead of publishing and by the time they go out the sun is cheerful again..xxoJudy

DeleteI love the camelias! I think they must be the dark pink ones? The red peppers are so pretty, and the checkered tablecloth sure brightened up things. Your kitchen is so cozy! And the poem at the end.. so sweet for a rainy day! Your "bit of sunshine on paper" is darling too! We are having gorgeous weather here... was 70 yesterday and will be/is warmer today. But it's short lived.. rain coming back for a couple of days, then a day of sun, then more rain. It's all making everything green and lush around here! xoxo Marilyn
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Marilyn. Our weather is beautiful these last few days but is expected to turn rainy again. Like you say, good for the flowers..xxoJudy
