Have you heard the rumor
 that Charlie Chaplin
 is alive and well
 and living at
 Gold Country Cottage?

Just imagine
that little black suit,
 the dapper bowler,
 that confident swagger
 while swinging that little cane
 and old Charlie
 will materialize
 right before your eyes.

We are having
so much fun
 with Kai.

 He is just delightful
 and keeps us laughing
 all day long.

The vet
 thinks that he was born
 with some deformity
of his back and legs.

 You can see
how his left front leg
is turned at the ankle
 and this makes his foot
 actually turn almost
 completely around.

When he sits,
his back legs go
 out to the sides
 and when he is standing,
from the back view,
 the Captain says
you could roll a bowling ball
 through his legs!

 Just like old Charlie!

This makes him appear
 like a ballerina
 getting ready to
spring into action.

  It certainly
doesn't slow him down any
as his mode of transportation
is running
 rather than

He breezes through life
as if he has an appointment to keep
 and I call him our
 Little Businessman,
dressed in his black suit,
 roaming around
looking for his
 misplaced briefcase.

Cowboy Kai
resting after a walk
through the fair grounds.

Have you seen the ads on TV
for dinner in a box?

We have been seeing them for awhile now
 and decided to order one
 to see how they are.

We ordered from
 and was pleasantly surprised.

 On their website
 you can choose your preferences
such as beef, pork, vegetarian,
 fish, poultry, etc.

 Based on those choices,
a full meal is planned for you
and delivered to your front door.

The box is packed with freezer bags
so that it stays fresh in transport.
 The ingredients are the freshest,
some more so than what I would find
 in our local supermarket.

Spices, herbs, vegetables
and usually salad fixings,
 and a laminated recipe card
 with detailed illustrations
 and instructions,are included
so that even a cooking novice
would find it easy to prepare.

 Usually the only thing left
for you to contribute
is olive oil, salt and pepper
and a good glass of wine.
 Plated also recommends
 the perfect wine
 to go with each dish.

You order as many meals
 as you need
and the ingredients are measured out
so that there is no waste whatsoever.

 The portions are large enough
 that the Captain and I
usually can't eat it all in one sitting
 so ours can be stretched
for an extra dinner.

 It is running
 $12 per plate per person
and you are set on a weekly delivery schedule
 but it is very simple
to delay a week or two
if you wish
and you can stop delivery at anytime.

We have just ordered
our second go-round
but we skipped last week.

I can go to the market
and by the time I pick up extras
that are not on my list
(and that seems to happen often),
 I can easily spend
 between 40-50 dollars
 for one meal.

Our tummies are nicely filled
after each meal
and I really do feel
like I have eaten a
 very healthy and tasty dinner.

Progress Report:

It is a beautiful day today
and a wonderful touch
of fall
 is in the air.

Happy Tuesday

This is fast becoming
Kai's most favorite
napping spot.

  The only compensation
 we have received
for any of the above information
 is an abundance
of sloppy,

Sharing today with:

  1. I love your disclosure about compensation! Adorable!!!

  2. I'm sure your adorable Kai will bring so much pleasure and happiness into your lives, Judy. What a sweet story of how the persistence of your daughter brought Kai into your lives. I Enjoyed the FYI at the end!

  3. He is precious, glad you have him and glad he has you !

  4. What sweet story , he is so cute and so happy with he new home and his lovely new family
    God bless you all.

  5. Love the comment about compensations. Your dinners sound great - it is always nice to have some convenience when cooking, especially if it is healthy and tasty.

The other day I was looking at something and saw a photo of Charlie Chaplin when he was not in costume. Have you ever seen that? it is amazing - he is a suave, good looking man - nothing like his character - he looks like a "heart throb" movie star when not dressed in his costume.

  6. One of the things that makes me keep loving our 'little black sambo' is that he makes us laugh so much, that is an added bonus of having a furry little friend. I am so glad you are enjoying Kai!! I've actually thought about ordering 'blueapron', a similar meal by mail company, your quick review is making me more inclined to do so. You are coming right along on your cottage painting, I think it's going to be prettier than I expected ~ :) Be Blessed! Cindy xoxo

  7. What a darling little dog! One of my dogs has a similar deformity of one of her legs, although it isn't as severe as Kai's. It doesn't slow her down either.

  8. What a sweet addition to your family Kai is! I look forward to more posts about him. And I also appreciate the review of the meal company. I have wondered- and it sure does seem convenient.

  9. Kai is so cute with her crooked legs and feet. It sure doesn't seem to bother his ability to have fun and entertain his parents. I've not heard of getting a meal in a box here. It sounds interesting. Your painting is really progressing nicely! Enjoy!

  10. I am so happy Kai has come to live with you! How adorable he is and I know that he is making every day in your home happier and full of joy! Welcome to blog land Kai! You are already a big hit with me and Bentley too!

    Big Texas Hugs,
    Susan and Bentley

  11. Welcome Kai. He is adorable Judy and I am sure he just loves his new home. Such wonderful parents he has and all that love. I just knew you would be getting a new addition to your family.
Enjoy him! Waldo and Lili said they liked him very much and they send lots of kisses.

  12. I can see why you are enjoying Kai so much....what a sweetheart! Keep the pictures coming, my friend :)

Plated.com sounds quite interesting - what a great idea :) Thanks for joining Roses of Inspiration this week. Hugs!

  13. Yum on the plated.com. Wonderful idea and little Kai is so adorable and he really has found a wonderful home with you and the Captain. He is so loved. Your paint by number is coming out so great. Have a great week end Judy.

  14. I am so glad this sweet little guy has found such a loving home! He is so cute!

  15. Your little businessman is too cute Judy. He is one lucky little guy to be living with you now!
The plated.com dinner sounds like a great option for Dale and I since we really can't go out much since it's too hard to find a sitter for Landon. Usually when we want to go out Dale drives to our nearest town (30 miles)with an eatery and brings it home to us :)))
    sending hugs...

  16. Hello Judy. Kai is precious! Makes me smile. I am sure there is much love and happiness in this home. Thanks for sharing the plated.com site. It looks interesting. Happy Monday.

Your comments are so special to me...Judy
