MOVING ON...

Goodbye to you
Red, White and Blue
You did the summer proud

You will be back
No doubt of that

But, as of now,
We can't say that

Out loud!

Now,
we are moving on towards fall.

  The autumn colors
are showing up in bits and pieces.

Cupboard doors
have been opened...

...and little touches
of Halloween
 are falling out
from the darkest reaches.

 The large totes,
full of autumn goodness,
 are still untouched and
for now
we are counting on
 these small items
to brighten and cheer the Cottage,
 along with those within,
and to be an inspiration
for the Cottage Witch
 while she contemplates
the arrival of
the MooNlIGht and the MAjIc.

It won't
 be long
 now!

In the meanwhile,
 we will still embrace summer.

 It has had its share
of darker moments
but the sun is now shining
and it continues to be
good to us.

Hang in there Houston.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

...Judy...

  1. Judy, It almost seems we are caught in two places in one time. summer/fall. I love your décor. I will really have to dig into my decorations and do something sweet here. Thank you, we need to keep Texas in our prayers and thoughts. Blessings , xoxo,Susie

  3. How I love this post, Judy! I'm never one to wish a season away, but we all love a change and new beginning. Perhaps with all that's going on in our world, we feel a little sense of control doing these changes.

I love your fall decor...so sweet and fun! :)

  5. Love the Fall decor and I am so tired of HOT WEATHER. We are now in an extreme heat wave. If I don't get out early I have to wait till evening to go out and water.
I like to decorate for Fall and then closer to Halloween I bring out the Halloween stuff. I won't be doing as much as I usually do, scaling it down. I haven't done to well this summer as it's been to hot for me.

Take care and have a wonderful weekend.

    Hugs,

    Mary

  8. Such cute and festive fall and Halloween decor, Judy! I'm feeling a little fallish also! I also love seeing your home. We have a wood stove quite like yours. I like how yours is set in the corner surrounded by brick to really draw attention to it. Do you use it much? We like the fireplace for the most part, but on days below 20 degrees we can really heat up the house with just the stove!

    Have a great holiday weekend!

  9. Hi Judy, lovely post saying goodbye to summer. I am tired of the hot weather. At times, it has become too hot to do anything outdoors. I guess it is a little cooler where you live.
You have some wonderful fall and Halloween accessories. Thanks for your sweet visit. Happy Thursday.

  11. Autumn coing fast. I like the picture of your living room with what looks to be a screen door propped against the wall. You have some of the neatest ideas. Do like that picture of many pumpkins with your grandson and Tami.

Will be 100 both days this weekend.. so dry here and lots of smoke from surrounding fires everywhere! I do look forward to the cooler days of Fall and cooler nights and hopefully some moisture! I love your rooms and decorations.. will come back and look again when more time. I'm at our local library as our internet is out until Sept. 6th! Yikes... going through internet withdrawals here....... take care..... Marilyn

  16. I thought you were quitting blogging too!

Fall has come early it seems for us here in Massachusetts. About 65 during the day and 40's at night. I'm NOT ready!

  17. Ohhhh love love love the way you decorate. Can't wait to see the crow teapot. It is 82 here - 85 tomorrow and 89 the next day - where did this unusual heat come from? Usually by now we are beginning to get some rain and much cooler temps. I won't complain though - it is so pleasant to be able to sit outdoors and look at the stars and watch the bats swirling about. Happy week to you my autumn decorating friend. I'll wait until the weather changes to start mine I think.

  18. These are just beautiful. Yes, I am so ready for fall and love the cool nip of the air, but I fear there will be a few more weeks of summer in the southeast. Hoping now that Irma will stay away. It's good to drop in. It's been way too long.
