THE SECRET GARDEN....THE MAGIC IS WORKING, PART ONE

"There is magic in the garden...
good magic"

Colin to Mary Lennox, "The Secret Garden"

Here is a part of the long-awaited Secret Garden that I promised you a while ago.

I know it's taken some time, but, in case you haven't noticed, that's how we do things around here.  After all, it's coming on to summer and the livin' is easy.

It is a beautiful day in the Secret Garden.

The sunlight is dappling, the birds are singing sweetly and a soft breeze is blowing. It's a most joyous time to sit, with a cup of tea, and reflect on the journey that has gotten us this far.

"Where you tend a rose, my lad...A thistle cannot grow..."

"The Secret Garden"

"And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow,/Dropping from the vines of morning to where the cricket sings..."

W. B. Yeats

Please relax and savor your peaceful times...Judy

I'm sharing with these lovely parties this week....

    1. Thank you so much Val. I always appreciate the lovely compliments you give. I think I might have overloaded the mosiacs a bit, it makes the pictures kind of small, but I wanted to show all the corners and as usual, I get carried away..Hope you are having the best weekend, my friend..Judy

    1. Hi Amy Jo: Thank you and you're right about Romantic Homes. That's exactly where I first saw the teapot ("Songbird Garden", Rosie B. Farmer). I can't remember, but I think I went to her website and ordered it. I think I'll try back and see if they still are available and get maybe a sugar and creamer..Happy Saturday..Judy

  13. Hello to my talented sister....I know you have always loved 'The Secret Garden' and now you have one of your own. I see you guys have redone under the gazebo and it is beautiful! I want to come visit! You probably thought I have fallen from the planet....no, just caught up in my 'hovel.' Yesterday the huge ol' swamp cooler was reinstalled (14 feet up) and what an ordeal that was! After witnessing that I never want to remove it for the change of seasons even though I hate looking at it! I have just got caught up reading your lovely posts. Though a bit late, I might comment on some down the road! I do remember seeing one of your gorgeous photos with the Pollyanna books in it. Those were my favorite to read. I ofter thought of myself as the 'glad girl' during those formative years. WHAT THE.....HAPPENED!!!?

Lately I've been to Ikea 3 times and still can't get anything right. Return, returns. I NEED YOUR EXPERTISE and will be in touch with yet another DECOR UPDATE question.

Tami probably told you I can't come to Jake's graduation and party. Of all the graduates, I hate to miss his. What a great all-American young man (not to mention sooo cute) Tami and Tim have raised. Give credit where credit is due. Tell me all about it!
    LOVE, Sid

  14. Hi Judy, Your secret garden is beautiful and really tempts me to go in and sit. I recently finished reading a book by Master Gardener Margaret Roach which she titled "And I Shall Have Some Peace There" taken from the quote you included. It was a great read. Thank you for the pretty pictures. I clicked to enlarge so I could enjoy all the details! Linda

  15. Goodness, your garden looks so comfortable! I never quite seem to get past the gardening to the details that would make it so enjoyable to just relax and enjoy the time well spent digging in the soil... Larry

  25. Now I got very worried about myself. Thought I left a comment here yesterday, but obviously didn't, must have a bad memory nowadays, lol.
This sure was a magic place. Just loved it. It's so boring with our garden cause it's just a plain, square with no hights or anything. You can't have a secret garden at such a place, lol.
Hope you have a lovely day.

  36. Judy that looks like a very magical place. I could do with a secret space like that, comfy chair, nice bit of shade, pot of tea and some bickies, a good book and I'd be as happy as a sandboy! Love the fairy lights at night, it really adds that magical touch.
