New beginnings!
Although spring
has been here for awhile,
Mother Nature has finally decided
to align herself with the calendar.
We are having
some beautiful weather and
when beautiful weather happens,
my mind turns to
cleaning house!
Although spring
has been here for awhile,
Mother Nature has finally decided
to align herself with the calendar.
We are having
some beautiful weather and
when beautiful weather happens,
my mind turns to
cleaning house!
I have been dusting and doing
and taking on one room at a time
to get ready for what,
I hope, is a
peaceful and delightful summer.
Before anything else,
I would like to give Katie at
Let's Add Sprinkles
a tremendous thank you
for featuring my
Kitchen Shopping
post last week.
I am always so appreciative
when someone takes
their time and efforts
to give me such an honor
and, Katie,
I thank you very much.
As I told you in my last post,
I am turning the Cottage into
a blue and white summer place.
This is not a new concept.
These iconic colors are timeless and
I have been reading
that a lot of you
are doing the same thing.
I have kept almost all
of the Victoria magazines
over the years and
when an idea comes to mind,
I look to them to help me
in my search for
just the right things.
I've seen so many
wonderful ideas and,
of course,
almost all of them use items
that I could only dream about.
But, as I am dusting and doing,
I have been looking
through my stash of blue and white and
find that I have more
than I thought I did.
Because these colors
are a recurring theme
throughout the Cottage,
I think I sometimes
take them for granted and
don't really look at them as
the strong influence
that fuels the way
I like to decorate.
...so,
I have gathered a small selection
of blue and white
that I have on hand and
while choosing ones to use in my project,
I will take you along
as I look at them..
up close and personal.
Some of these
will be used throughout the project,
some will be put back
on the shelf for another time and
as we proceed through the summer,
other colors will be added
to celebrate certain occasions.
All of us
favor certain colors and styles and
if we look closely
at what inspires us,
it might make it easier
to put a
special look together.
When you see,
up close and personal
all that inspires you,
you might be certain that
you are on the right track or,
it may surprise you, and
send your imagination soaring
into a whole
different direction.

Blue and white is always a favourite ... and there are so many gorgeous plates and china to choose from...You have a most lovely collection and you're right about looking "up close and personal". I always so fond of the blue pigment of vintage blue china... and of course the endless patterns... They are all so unique and you must be having quite a hard time choosing from amongst all the pretties. The vintage man and lady dancing is a real charmer as is the textured blue and gold vase second from the bottom... It reminds me of a sea urchin with all those lovely round nubuals. I just want to roll my hands around it.( HaHa) Yes it is very interesting to seek inspiration from inanimate objects and artwork... This was a most in delightful post Judy. ... Have a HAPPY day, my Friend. ... Hugs
ReplyDeleteI have always loved blue and white. I find it is timeless and soothing to the senses. You have some beautiful pieces and the up-close-and-personal plays well here. I hope you have a wonderful week as you transform into a summer cottage. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI love all your closeups of your treasures. I have blue in every room in my home. Especially the kitchen and living room. Coming from a Scandinavian heritage and having a Mom that collected flow blue Staffordshire..., I guess I'm blessed to continue the traditions. Loved this post, and will look forward to more blues!

ReplyDeleteLoved the up close and personal look at your beautiful things! I can hardly wait to see where you place them so carefully and lovingly. You have a real knack for doing it "just right"!! I'm still trying to get more pink infused to my living area. My bedroom is great with the pinks, but too much blah browns in the living room! guess I need to make a quilt right? (NOT)........ ha ha.... My mom had alot of aqua blues in her decorating and I have some of her things, so aqua is more what I have rather than the deep cobalt blues. I love almost all colors and enjoy themes of groupings of one type of color..... I'm sure you will do it justice! xoxoo Marilyn
ReplyDeleteLook at all that lovely blue! One of my favorite colors and how I love seeing all your beautiful treasures -- up close and perfect! I, too, love Victoria and save them too. Not all but I have many and sometimes the old ones are the best!
ReplyDeleteI may be a red girl, but blue and white has always been a favorite of mine. It's elegant, classic and timeless and it always looks so fresh. I have a Pinterest board where I pin only blue and white. A girl can dream, can't she? Enjoy the weekend!!
ReplyDeleteYou have some beautiful pieces here.
ReplyDeleteBlue and white go so well together.
All the best Jan
What a beautiful post, I love blue and white...
ReplyDeleteHugs, Ida
Love the blue-- especially the one with the dark border. It looks unusual!
ReplyDeleteI love the blue and white combo. It is always so bright and pretty no matter what your decor tastes are. Glad you are having beautiful weather out in California. We are finally seeing some Spring like weather. Not out of the winter woods yet but soon very soon. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kris
I must have more blue and white. You have convinced me. I like the blue with the pine cones. I never think of using pine cones much. They are a nice addition as you have shown. Pretty plate with the - I am guess platinum border? The old fashioned Lady and Gentleman, always loved those motifs on plates and old fashioned lamp bases.
ReplyDeleteHappy Pretty Blue Monday to You,
Betsy
Oh dear.. I read this post, then I got called away from the computer and neglected to leave a note. I'm sorry.
ReplyDeleteI love, love all of your blue! Your blue cottage especially.
I have always had a love of all things green, yellow and red, but you have just about converted me into a 'blue' girl~~ **smile**.
Thanks for your sweet friendship and thanks for your lovely and inspiring posts!!!
Smiles :)
~K.
Victoria has been such an inspiration to me over the years too. I think I've kept all of the summer issues because of the blue and white. You are so welcome. I appreciate how faithful you are to link up every week. I love this post and your close ups. So fun.
