I can't tell you
how good it is
to be normal again.
For a few days now
we have had our power on and
no calls from PG&E.
Life feels right again.

It is a jarring reminder
that there is always
light at the end of the tunnel
if we will only allow ourselves
the luxury of patience.
It isn't always
an easy thing to do and
there are so many
different degrees of circumstances
but, in the end,
we can only hope
that it will make us stronger and wiser -
and better prepare us
for the next round of life.
This is a tree
that came down
across from a neighbor's house,
almost hitting it.
I was just letting Robin out
and I heard the crack and
then the loud thud.
A very scary sound.

Hope everyone had a Happy Halloween.
We had lots of
polite, sweet and cute children
knocking at our door.
It seems a good time
was had by all and
a few pieces of good candy
left over for snacking!

When the lights came back on,
I had the cutest Santa
in my possession.
How did that happen?
No matter,
he was at Rite Aid for half price and
he just makes me smile.
Don't you just love the "sales"
that happen before
the event even gets here?

We took a ride
around our town and neighboring Nevada City
and saw some pretty fall colors and
I just wanted to share them with you.

Just heard
the kids are coming
to the Cottage for Thanksgiving.
I can't wait and
just playing around
with table settings.

I'm pretty sure
these ARE the last of the zinnias.
There still are a few more buds and
I haven't cut them back yet.
We have had two frosts so far and
yet they still survive.
A life lesson
to be learned here
somewhere.

Judy, I am so glad you are safe. I loved seeing the pictures of color in your area. Oh boy the kids are coming home. I love that I miss my children, it seems I can not see them enough. Please say safe and enjoy your lovely weather. Blessings to all, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteSo glad you have your power back. We had both rain and snow on Halloween. Your Samta made me smile! Janice
ReplyDeleteWhat a relief to have the lights back on, my sister lives in Carmel and they faced the same problem, luckily she didn't have to go without, but it certainly was a concern.
ReplyDeleteLove, love your pictures of all the beautiful fall color...and the witch photo is wonderful.
There's something so warm and lovely about this post. I'm grateful you have power and that the fires seem to be under control. Your home looks cozy and beautiful and so the fall color you shared. Oh, what joy.
ReplyDeleteJudy,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by!! I do love Big lot's and you are able to order online too!! Beautiful Fall Foliage and Beautiful houses too!! Cute Santa!! I have all of Fall/Halloween in the Kitchen down and am working on decorating it for Christmas now.... I have some new ideas for the Kitchen but I do not change it up much because I do love all my decorations...
Hug,
Deb
Oh my - Nevada City - we just watched The Christmas Card last night for the umteenth time on Hallmark! Lovely fall photos. So glad the fires are getting under control.
ReplyDeleteOh Judy how exciting the kids are coming for Thanksgiving. What a blessing that will be. Enjoy enjoy. The trees by you are very pretty with the color changes. That Santa makes me smile too. He is a keeper. I think they get even cuter when they are on sale lol! Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kris
I am smitten with your Santa!! I might have to go to Rite Aid myself and see if Santa lives there...and so happy to hear about your full Thanksgiving house. What a joy!!
ReplyDeleteSo glad Judy, that things are "right" again. We take things for granted until we don't have them! I loved your photos of the houses with the stunning trees! Wow.. those houses are awesome and so grand. And the Santa you got is darling. I'm always drawn to Santas.. and I'm already in the mood for Christmas as have been making Christmas cards since September! Happy too that your kids are coming for Thanksgiving.. that is such a blessing. We are going to visit my son and his fiance and her son, in Astoria, if the weather permits us to travel. From what I can see, I don't think there are any big storms coming until into December. Keeping my fingers crossed. A holiday is just not right without seeing family. Oh... and LOVE your place settings with the pumpkin plates! Hugs... Marilyn
ReplyDeleteSo pleased to read that things are right again … long may that remain so!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Autumn colours in your photographs, and you are going to have a wonderful Thanksgiving with the kids coming … fabulous :)
All the best Jan
Judy,
ReplyDeleteJust stopping in to that you for visiting!! We had our first snowfall today...Just a dusting but it sure looks pretty!!

Debbie
