Life is moving slowly here
at the Cottage.
The smoke comes and goes.
The fire, closest to us,
is reported to be
100% contained.
The far away mountain
still looks hazy
but our air, up close,
seems less so.
We did a little house cleaning.
The entry has been swiped and polished
so there are photos
to be shared this week.
The entry measures 11 ft X 5 ft,
so you can see
how busy we have been!
The Captain has been
sprucing up the garden.
He is a wizard
when it comes to pruning and shearing,
therefore,
I haven't dared to go outside!
There is very little
that he and I disagree on usually,
but pruning and shearing
is not included in that.
As you know,
our kids were doing our grocery shopping.
It was a task
that they took on
out of kindness and
their concerns for our safety.
It was such a long drive for them,
especially after Tim had been up
since 2:00 AM doing his day job.
We are so grateful and appreciative,
but decided to try
ordering on line from Raleys.
We did a dry run yesterday and
it turned out just fine.
They never complained
but we felt the time on the road
was too much and
we (put our foot down) and
reached a compromise.
of our busy work for this week.
Hope you all are enjoying
the busy work that you have to do.
I think we are
rested up enough
to tackle another week.
...Judy...
stay well and
wear your masks.
Our county has now reached
over 400 cases.
I think this virus
has more busy work in store
for all of us.
Praying all the fires get contained. Judy, your home is so sweet. Seeing it makes me smile. The flowers and the way you decorate. I love it. Stay safe. We are still wearing masks and will probably for a long time. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Susie. It is pretty quiet fire wise around us but never know when another will break out. I love my house and try to keep it up as best I can. I find staying in makes me less ambitious. The mask is become something permanently attached and probably will be for some time to come..Stay well..xxoJudy
DeleteGlad the fires are calming down some. I always love seeing your cute cottage rooms. We will be wearing masks and keeping social distance I think for a long time even after a vaccine. Until they know that will work we will all have to still be careful. With that said there are always a few ya hoo's that will not wear masks. Even with my girlfriends over we wore masks until it was time to eat and then kept a safe distance. It gave us some normalcy but kept a safe distance. Have a great new week.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kris
Thanks so much, Kris. Sounds like you had a great time with your friends. The mask thing and social distancing will be around for a long time, I think. I was reading in the paper about how families will handle Thanksgiving. It sure is a shame that we are having to go through any of this..Stay well..xxoJudy
ReplyDeleteHi Judy, that was some awful smoke and ash. so glad most of it is gone. Wearing a mask is a habit and it should be for all. Always an idiot who breaks the rules. Continue to remain safe. xo
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Linda. It is good to breathe some fresh air for a change. There are more than a few idiots out there, I am afraid..Stay well..xxoJudy
DeleteYou are lucky to have some motivation to do something! Seems like the longer I feel like I need to stay home, the more lazy I get and the more uncaring I get as to whether my house is clean and the flowers watered! I DO have lots of busy work to do, but my poor house needs a good cleaning and I just don't want to do it and don't care! We still have quite abit of smoke so I don't go outside much. I feel like my yard is drying up and I may quit watering pretty soon. I've just kind of lost interest in summer! Glad you tried the online ordering.. I do go to the store but I hate going and should do the online ordering. Our Safeway has it.. we can order and then go pick it up and they bring it out to your car. A good way to go! Take care... have a safe and good week! Marilyn
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Marilyn. Ha! I have cleaned exactly one room and only then so I would have something to write about. Motivation is the word I have been looking for, couldn't remember and couldn't have it anyway! I find that I am getting more and more like that Marilyn and I don't like it but it is a fact. That's exactly how it is done through Raley's and it was really simple. We got enough for a week's worth of dinners, but to tell the truth, if it is an exceptionally hot day, we find something else to eat. Like PB&J! So maybe they will last longer than a week,. but it was a simple solution and let's my kids off the hook. Tami is working again every Saturday so we weren't getting to see her anyhow..Stay well..xxoJudy
DeleteI'm glad the fire closest to you is contained. Your home looks just lovely. It's nice you have a gardener! A good sharing of labor I think! I feel very cozy after reading this!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Jeanie. When I saw you said I have a gardener, I thought you meant a real one. I wish!! Put a pair of clippers in that man's hands and I guarantee you there will be nothing left. I guess if he didn't do it, then it wouldn't get done. His words, not mine..Stay well..xxoJudy
DeleteVery interesting post. Have a nice day :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Martyna. You too!..xxoJudy
DeleteLove your entry way! It's very inviting and welcoming. We always wear masks and really can't understand what the big deal is about them. I think some people fight against a thing simply because someone told them to do it!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Ellen. It is fairly small but I am happy with it. Everybody hates wearing the masks. I hate wearing the mask, but I always do. Don't they understand that the wearing of the mask will make the time come quicker so we won't have to wear them anymore. I agree with you but don't you think it may, also, be because the few that object to it, are being led by uninformed voices, so that they will remain in the flock and show up at the voting booth.Because if we are being honest with ourselves, that is what it is all about..Stay well..xxoJudy
ReplyDeleteYour home is looking very nice.
ReplyDeleteI don't like wearing masks but it is the 'new normal' so we just have to get on with it don't we.
Stay safe and stay well,
All the best Jan
Thanks so much, Jan. I'll be the first to tell you that it is a horrible experience for me to wear a mask, but I do! I just can't believe that there are some who don't know that the more masks are worn, the faster we will be over this junk..Stay well..xxoJudy
DeleteSo glad the fire was put out before it reached you. We have about 150 cases in our county. Hope this stps soon and we can get back to some normalcy. Janice
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Janice. I am too. It sounds like your county is holding it in check. I feel so sorry for parents struggling with sending their kids back to school. It is not looking good so far..Take care and stay well..xxoJudy
DeleteJudy,
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that the fires have been extinguished by you...That must be very scary... Your entry looks lovely... I had intentions of decorating for Fall in the Kitchen this week but as fate would have it, I need a new refrigerator and there is an appliance shortage..Luckily, a new one is coming on Sunday so I will wait to decorate the Kitchen after it is delivered...
Thanks so much for stopping by!!
Hugs,
Debbie
Thanks so much, Debbie. I am so glad the fires are gone, for awhile anyway. That is a scary time when the big appliances start going out. Nothing is cheap anymore. Hope you get yours soon..Stay well..xxoJudy
DeleteI always love your photos❤
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Kinga. That is so nice of you to say..Stay well..xxoJudy
DeleteI've been thinking about you and those fires, Judy. I'm glad to hear that you're safe and the smoke is fading. And wow, I noticed that shiny floor in the first shot. Amazing!! I was also giggling at your comment about the pruning. My husband has a heavy hand when it comes to cutting things back. I like everything a bit taller and fuller. After many years together, I've learned to stay in the house now, too. It all grows back! Haha. Stay safe and I can't wait to see your painting!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Kim. I'm glad that fire is over here too. My hubby might not be good with pruning shears but he is a whiz with a mop and some wax. The shiny floor is all his. I feel the same way about the garden. Bigger and bushier is what I say..Stay well..xxoJudy
DeleteNice pictures Judy :) I hope you and your family are all well, so lucky for having such good kids
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your kind words. I am very proud of my kids and feel very blessed. Thanks for your visit and hope you will come back again..Stay well..xxoJudy
DeleteI am inside cowering from the heat, as I look outside I swear it looks as gray as rain, but you know its thick dark smoke, I find your photos a lovely distraction! That's great you are happy with rayleys home delivery, I hope it continues to be easy for you.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. This heat is really unrelenting, isn't it? It almost looks like it will rain there is so much cloud cover (I thought the smoke around here was gone) but maybe not. Raley's worked out pretty well, there were a couple of things that didn't look that great, or let's say I would have picked them over better, but beggars can't be choosers, I guess. I feel much safer doing it this way and that is the point..Stay well..xxoJudy
