THE SUN...

Sunshine is a beautiful thing.

 It almost always shows up

when you feel the need for it.

When winter is waning and spring is on the horizon,

the sun feels especially warm and welcoming.

Here at the Cottage,

the french doors have been closed

to keep a little more warmth in the places

where we spend most of our time.

But today, the sun is placed just right

and you can see its glow coming through from both sides...

...a sure sign

that those pretty doors will be opening soon.

With a touch of humor,

the sun makes us smile

as it reflects through the lace curtains onto the side of the game table.

It is good for our well being...

...and we do our best work in the sunshine.

We are so lucky to feel the warmth of the sun on our side of the world.

Across miles and oceans there are ones that are not so fortunate.

The people of Ukraine are being brutalized.

It is unthinkable what is happening to them.

These poor people are losing their homes and their homeland.

They have shown such strength and courage

for standing up against a force that has no reason to be doing such damage,

a force that is only driven by the greed and the push for power of one man.

A man who has been referred to as a "genius".

Only one, sadly uncaring and a bully,

and made from the same cloth,

would see him as that.

The sunflower is the national flower of the Ukraine.

It is a symbol of strength and grace,

something that the Ukrainian people and their leader know a lot about...

...please keep them in your thoughts and prayers

and do what you can to help.

If you donate any money,

please be aware of where you send it.

There are some sites on social media that are scams.

Bless the Ukraine and its brave people.

...Judy...

But they go through a lot of dirt

To find their way there."

  2. Yes it is so sad what is going on there. I try to imagine if that was hapening in my own neighborhood and I just can't even imagine it. I feel so bad and it's just horrible. Sunflower is so appropriate for their country. I pray for peace for them very soon. I'm glad you're getting some warm sunshine. We've had a little but today is gray again and snow predicted for tonight.. and down to 15 degrees! I'll be glad when these cold nights are gone for another year! xoxo Marilyn

    1. Thanks so much, Marilyn. It is a travesty what is happening to them. I can't even imagine but seeing the looks on some of those faces just breaks my heart. It is also very scary too as there is nothing that Putin won't do and he must feel so angry because they are putting up such a fight. It is cold here too but the days are fairly nice. It sounds really cold at your house..Happy Tuesday..xxoJudy

  3. How beautiful, Judy. I love it all, especially your sun puddle pup and the gorgeous shots of the sun through your curtains. I love your sunflowers, too. This is so incredibly tragic. I do love the sunflower and will never see them the same way again.

    1. Thanks so much Jeanie. Wherever there is a smidgen of sun, Robin will find it. I just can't hardly stand it while those poor women are having to pick between their husbands and sons and their small children. I have always loved seeing a sunflower and from now on I will think of them as Ukrainian flowers..Happy Tuesday..xxoJudy

  4. So sad about what is going on in the Ukraine. Just think just a few weeks ago these people were going about their lives like us and now everything is so chaotic and scary. Praying for a peaceful resolution to the madness soon. Love Robin in the sunshine. Looks like a great place to take a nap. xoxo Kris

  6. Lets hope this attack on the Ukrainians ends soon. So sad. I did know that their flower was the sunflower. So love that some of the major landmarks are also changing colors to blue and yellow for Ukraine too. Janice

    1. Thanks so much, Janice. I hope something can be done to make the evil stop. It is beyond description. I really didn't know the sunflower was their flower until some bloggers were writing about it. I have seen the photos of buildings around the world paying tribute. They are really beautiful..Happy Tuesday..xxoJudy

  7. The world is praying for Ukraine and it's people. I am deeply saddened by all of this. This monster needs to give up and stay in his own country. The world doesn't need another dictator and destroyer.

  12. Such a lovely post, Judy. The sunshine through the lace curtains is so charming. Love your little doggie lying in the sun, too. We all need a little warmth and comfort these days. Love all the beautiful sunflowers and what they symbolize. I find it hard to make sense of this world. My heart is broken for the people of Ukraine and for the whole world which is held hostage by one very evil man. A good lesson for being very careful who we allow in power. Compassion is a very important virtue. Sending hugs to you xo K
