LOOKING UP AGAIN...

Welcome March

 from the pages of

A Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady...

...evidently

 the daffodils in my garden

don't see any truth in the book!

As I was racking my brain to find something to write about this week,

I looked back to one year ago, as I often do, for inspiration.

The cheeky little robin didn't appear today

but I can faintly hear his song

and hope that the meaning still holds true.

There is still a not quite so perky bouquet on the game table

 left over from Valentine's Day

and the signs of winter are still undeniable.

The sun playing peek-a-boo through the window

shows some pretty reflections

but is not doing much to shed any warmth on the scene.

Whether said in bird song or in the language of flowers,

the main focus of the two posts is still the same.

Home is the best place to be.

If you feel this post needs

 a little more clarification,

you can read the original (here) .

Have a Happy Week.  Stay well and warm.

 Bless the Ukrainian people.

...Judy...

  1. Let's pray for those poor people in the Ukraine and hope for resolution to this soon. Families torn apart and men that are fathers and husbands having to fight for their lives is insane. With all this world has been through with Covid now this. We need kindness and peace more than ever. I have 5 little Robins that have been outside my window each day and that gives me hope that Spring will be here soon. We are having beautiful weather this week but winter is going to return next week. Just a little tease of what is to come.
Have a good week. xoxo Kris

    1. Thanks so much, Kris. I think Mother Nature is the biggest tease. She must get such delight in treating us this way! It will all happen in its own time, I guess. We are supposed to get rain on Thursday. It is so sad what is happening in Ukraine. I can't know what those poor people are going through but it can't be very good. They sure are putting up a good fight so far but it almost is certain to get a lot worse soon. I just can't think how bad it must be.. Have a great week, my friend..xxoJudy

  2. I've seen a few birdies here flitting around, but not many. We've had a few days of warmish weather, after that awful cold spell we had last week.. it's nice to feel the warmth, even though mostly cloudy. I'm ready for spring but yet not in a huge hurry yet to go out and work in the yard...as it IS work! Lots of trimming up I need to do and cutting out all of my old dead Iris leaves from last year. I have old raspberries that haven't been bearing very well, so think I'll dig all those up too...just more work... sigh. I've been a couch potato lately, just watching TV and youtube videos! Oh well.. once the sunny days come.. and they will.. I'll have more energy! xoxo Marilyn

    1. Thanks so much, Marilyn. I'm with you. Hope I will have more energy when it warms up. I normally do what everybody else doesn't do. When the sun shines I want to do housework more than being outside. We are expecting a bit of rain tonight or tomorrow but not much. It still is pretty cold out..Happy Thursday..xxoJudy

  3. We had a few robins show up last week, just in time for the 20 degree weather. They probably wished they had waited a bit. We have two Canadian geese which have decided to make our yard their daytime headquarters. They are eating the seed on the ground from the feeders and spend most of the day hoovering up what the birdies and squirrels have left behind. Only problem is their bathroom habits are poor! haha. I've been so upset over the Ukraine situation; it's so hard to sit and watch their country be destroyed by an evil man. I don't care what NATO protocol is, we all need to go in there and get Putin out. Who's next? xoxo

    1. Thanks so much Debra. Those geese are lovely to watch but I can just imagine the mess they make! The situation in Ukraine is horrible. They are putting up such a hard fight but it seems that Putin is gaining on them. I even feel sorry for the Russian soldiers if it is true what we are hearing about them not knowing what they were getting into. They have to fight or they will be killed when they go home. Even though our leadership isn't always doing what we think they should, we have to feel so fortunate that the other guy isn't here now. Who knows what trouble we would be in if that were the case. I just hate to hear each morning what has happened overnight..Happy Thursday..xxoJudy

  4. Hi, Judy. I think the weather heard my whining and has moderated a bit here. Yesterday it was downright balmy in the high 40's...whew, a heat wave. I'm sure we will be blasted. Lovely post and I so would love to have that book, I will have to look for it! Sandi

    1. Thanks so much, Jeanie. Unfortunately I haven't seen a robin since last year when he sang me that little song but, hopefully, it might not be long now. I finally ordered the painting book again and it was in stock. Don't know why they couldn't send it before. I am practicing still..Happy Thursday..xxoJudy

  6. Judy,
You know that I totally agree with you that Home is the BEST place to be...3 years not working now and I am still immensely happy just enjoying my home and getting to "play" in it as you once wrote in a post!! I am changing the LR and DR over to Spring and Easter but the one thing that I am learning is to take my time and enjoy the process and not be in such a hurry...
    Stay safe, healthy and happy!!
    Hugs,
    Debbie

  7. I love home :)

We are seeing the robins all around now, and daffodils poking up through the soil.
Before we know it, we'll be trimming fruit trees, and getting all things spruced up around here.

    1. Thanks so much, Kerin. I hope my daffodils will bloom in time for spring! They are barely showing above ground. I looked out the window and my neighbor's flowering plum is in full bloom. It seemed like it happened over night..So pretty..Happy Thursday..xxoJudy

  8. Our daffodils have just started to show the tops of their little heads. Of course, it's still freezing here, but that gives me hope that warmer weather is on its way. I think the flowers know...xo

    1. Thanks so much, Kim. Yes, I think the flowers will show up just when the time is right. In the last week we have had a little snow, some rain and still the sun shines..Happy Tuesday..xxoJudy

  9. My daffodils are still showing. I have seen robins plus many other birds. I rescued a small hummingbird today. I found it in the low bushes close to a feeder. It was almost dark and cold. I put it back on the feeder and it tried to fly. I brought it in the house because it was cold. I put it in a box with a towel in the laundry room. I checked on it several times, even brought in a feeder. it drank. This morning it was ok, but couldn't fly high. Several times back on the ground, so I took it to Gold Country Wildlife Rescue. The founder was our former neighbor. They have specialist who have a great success rate of saving these tiny birds. They even gave me a tracking code so I can check on it. Take care Judy. xoxo
