This year is drawing to a close.
2023 will soon morph into 2024.
Some have had a very good year
Some have had a very good year
and some have experienced
difficulties of one kind or another.
difficulties of one kind or another.
The world, itself,
hasn't been too fortunate.
There always seems to be
something, or someone,
who is willing and trying
to take the upper hand
and cause havoc wherever they can,
and millions of humans are, or will be,
paying a high price for it.
It seems like an age old story
that we have been telling
for a long time, but never listening to.
We, the people,
are all a part of the human family,
what affects one, affects all.
I am trying to keep that in mind
as we move into this new year and
have great hopes that 2024
will be better for everyone.
As the title of this post states,
Christmas Simply Done, is Done.
There are not many days left to just sit
and take it all in,
but take advantage of those days, I will!
All the batteries that were added
at the beginning of decorating
have become depleted,
so after a trip to the Dollar Store...
...I am going to attempt to amaze you
with my rendition of
Silent Night, All is Calm All is Bright.
Not much talking,
but lots of candles and twinkly lights
performed by my new computer.
Everything looks so pretty to my eyes
but as I am getting used to
this new technology (to me),
I hope it does to your eye too.
We will be celebrating
our Christmas this year on January 14.
So it will be awhile before this family
comes over the river and through the woods
to this Grandmother's house
but it will all be worth the wait.
a Happy Holiday no matter how you celebrate it.
I feel so fortunate
to have turned typing and a sweet Cottage
into some very good lasting friendships.
Let's hope that the new year
turns into the best for all of us.
See you next year.

ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Kris..I ordered it on line from Grandinroad.com. I ordered it without lights. It is 7 feet tall and is really easy to box back up. I think it was called a Noble Fir and I have seen ones like it for $600-800 and up. It was in the mid $200..Merry Christmas dear friend..xxoJudy

DeleteMerry Christmas from my home in Virginia to your home in California. I always enjoy your posts. Your home is beautifully decorated. The lights and candles warm my heart. I will be going through chemotherapy in 2024 at the age of 82. This will be my second bout with cancer. I WILL survive, God willing. Whatever the date, I'm wishing you and your family a wonderful Christmas season. Looking forward to seeing your home in all it's glory in the new year. God bless America !

DeleteDear Judy, here I am a week late reviewing your loving post. I've just been behind all year ----struggling to get anywhere or anything done. I love the lovely ribbons on your tree, such a touch of the old world when life was simpler. I do long for those days, and I like you hope for a calmer and simpler New Year. Happy New Year and the best wishes from here in Chicagoland, Sandi
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Sandi. Join the club. I have been behind so much of this past year. I can't believe it is over already. The years are going by faster all the time. Happy New Year, my friend..xxoJudy
ReplyDelete"Lots of candles and twinkly lights" are just the ticket at this time of year with the long nights. I will have a Christmas celebration with my daughter in mid-January. We live on opposite coasts and wait until the holiday fares go down. We open presents after whatever we come up with for Christmas dinner. I hope you enjoy your celebration and Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. It sounds like we have the same circumstances. We only live 4 hours apart, but the kids have alot of animals to get back home to, so don't spend the night, and that is alot of driving in one day's time. We make it work and have the best time..Happy New Year..xxoJudy
ReplyDeleteLove all your pretty decorations and the tree is beautiful. Our Christmas was scaled down this year. My daughter and her fiance' hosted us and his family at their house. He has 4 year old twins so the was lots of wrapping paper and noise. LOL For the last 44 years I have always hosted at my house and the last 4 years it kept getting bigger with the nieces and nephews now married and having kids. But this year I just had to direct my daughter for her first time to host and cook for a crowd. It was nice.
ReplyDeleteWishing you too a Healthy and Happy New Year!
Thanks so much, Carla. We had times like that when the kids were small and they were a lot of fun and full of good memories..Happy New Year to you and your family..xxoJudy
DeleteThanks to you, Debbie..May this be the best year ever for you and your family..xxoJudy
