The beginning of a simple and beautiful weekend...

Up with the chickens...

The sun was warm and welcoming shining through the budding branches of the crape myrtle tree...

A fast trip to the newly opened Farmer's Market...

For a bouquet of colorful, old-fashioned flowers for the kitchen table...

And a basket full of sweet strawberries...

Dug in the dirt for awhile...

Took a trip down to Home Depot for some gardening supplies...
Not these pictured--I wish..

Grabbed an early dinner...

Baked a very delightful strawberry pie with some melt-in-your-mouth crust...recipe to follow, for both, in next post...

Took a minute to reflect on this simple, beautiful Saturday...and

Sharing all this simple sunshine with:

  1. Such pretty photographs! Love your chicken and your old fashioned bouquet is so pretty! Looks like you had a GREAT weekend!
Thanks so much for sharing at Amaze Me Monday!

  2. That pie looks so good! I love days that you can just do what you want without any interuption. It sounds like you had one of those days.

  3. What a lovely day! I think everyone is happy to have Spring weather to get outside! Love those strawberries...oh my! Happy Monday!

    1. From your chicken to the strawberries and trip to the home Deport and all around you on Saturday your "In n Out burger" I know you have Happy Day, I love your old-fashioned flowers on your kitchen table and the rooster too.

  4. Your day was special for and all the best reasons. The photos are so pretty and I when I saw the In n Out sign I thought California. In n Out is now everywhere in Dallas Ft. Worth, DFW, area and we saw long lines to begin with but now they are down to normal lengths. Our Texas version is named Whataburger and was a big discussion on the radio and TV of which was better when they first were opened here. Thanks for coming to my blog and posting your kind comments. I enjoyed your Bragging post and all the great photos.

  5. The strawberry cake looks divine, looking forward to seeing the recipe Judy. Our strawberry season is later in the year and I have planted lots of strawberry plants.I'm hoping for a bumper crop!!

  6. What a beautiful Saturday Judy, I love your flowers

  7. Hi Judy,
That WAS a Sun Shiny Day, how fun! Your strawberry pie is so beautiful and looks delicious, I like the strawberry shape for the center decoration. Can't wait for the recipe! Have a great week!

  8. Sounds like a perfect day! Looking forward to the pie recipe. Mimi

  9. That must have been a perfect day. Now, I'm going to be lurking around waiting for that recipe - it looks wonderful.

  10. Sounds like you and "The captain" had a good day!! The pie looks yummy!! One question though, was that a chicken????? Does Buddy and Miss Maggie have a new friend? ;)

  11. Those are best kind of days! Yours looked like a lot of fun in the sun. I could use one of those myself. Yummy looking pie. Can't wait for the recipe!

  12. What a lovely Saturday you had. And I really do envy you the strawberries. Here we only have those from other countries so far and they don't taste as our ones. Especially not those who are from our own garden, lol. Our spring is about 6 weeks late, I read somewhere, and we don't even have tulips in bloom yet. It's still rather cold during the nights and we do long for warm, sunny days now. Not these windy, cold ones we've had lately!!

Tomorrow we will move my mother to a home for elder. I do hope she'll enjoy her staying there. It'll be very strange to have her there instead of the flat she's been living in the past 11 years.

Tomorrow is also May 1st and it's lovely that spring is going on. Have a lovely first day of May.
    Love Elzie

  13. I spied those roo's, but that dessert got me!

  14. What a lovely day - I miss those CA flowers. I'm enjoying catching up on your blog - it is super fun

Your comments are so special to me...Judy
