SATURDAY, STRAWBERRIES, AND SUNSHINE...

The beginning of a simple and beautiful weekend...

Up with the chickens...

The sun was warm and welcoming shining through the budding branches of the crape myrtle tree...

A fast trip to the newly opened Farmer's Market...

For a bouquet of colorful, old-fashioned flowers for the kitchen table...

And a basket full of sweet strawberries...

Dug in the dirt for awhile...

Took a trip down to Home Depot for some gardening supplies...
Not these pictured--I wish..

Grabbed an early dinner...

Baked a very delightful strawberry pie with some melt-in-your-mouth crust...recipe to follow, for both, in next post...

Finally...

Took a minute to reflect on this simple, beautiful Saturday...and

how

  we

     just

          knew...

  4. Your day was special for and all the best reasons. The photos are so pretty and I when I saw the In n Out sign I thought California. In n Out is now everywhere in Dallas Ft. Worth, DFW, area and we saw long lines to begin with but now they are down to normal lengths. Our Texas version is named Whataburger and was a big discussion on the radio and TV of which was better when they first were opened here. Thanks for coming to my blog and posting your kind comments. I enjoyed your Bragging post and all the great photos.

  12. What a lovely Saturday you had. And I really do envy you the strawberries. Here we only have those from other countries so far and they don't taste as our ones. Especially not those who are from our own garden, lol. Our spring is about 6 weeks late, I read somewhere, and we don't even have tulips in bloom yet. It's still rather cold during the nights and we do long for warm, sunny days now. Not these windy, cold ones we've had lately!!

Tomorrow we will move my mother to a home for elder. I do hope she'll enjoy her staying there. It'll be very strange to have her there instead of the flat she's been living in the past 11 years.

Tomorrow is also May 1st and it's lovely that spring is going on. Have a lovely first day of May.
    Love Elzie
